PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 3
RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING ADOPTION OF AN
ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35-330(3)
RELATIVE TO SPECIAL USES IN THE I-1
(INDUSTRIAL PARK) DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Ordinance provides for warehousing and
storage as permitted service activity uses in the I-2
(General Industry) District; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission has deliberated whether
warehousing and storage uses are similar in nature to
other permitted uses in the I-1 (Industrial Park) District;
and,
WHEREAS, the Commission has reviewed existing I-1 uses
and has determined that warehousing and storage is similar
to said uses, subject to general special use standards
and specific restrictions with respect to intensity and
related activities;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Planning Commission
of the City of Brooklyn Center that:
The Commission recommends to the City Council
consideration and adoption of the following
amendment to Chapter 35 establishing warehousing
and storage as a special use in the I-1 District:
Warehousing and storage uses which, in each specific
case, are demonstrated to the City Council to be:
1. Compatible with existing adjacent land uses
as well as with those uses permitted in the
I-1 District generally;
2. Of comparable intensity to permitted I-1
District land uses with respect to activity
levels;
provided such uses shall adhere to applicable
requirements in the I-1 District and shall not
involve maintenance or servicing of vehicles
on the site.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was
duly seconded by member Patrick Horan. And upon vote being taken
thereon, the following voted in favor thereof; Commissioners
Grosshans, Foreman, Scott, Horan and Pierce. And the following
voted against the same: None. Whereupon said resolution was duly
declared passed and adopted.
