HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970 04-23 PCM Minutes of the Proceedings of the Planning Commission in the City of Brooklyn Center County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota April 23, 1970 The Planning Commission met in special session and was called to order by Chairman Robert Jensen at 8:05 P.M. Roll Call: Chairman Robert Jensen, Commissioners Karl Schuller, Henry Bogucki, Robert Grosshans and Paul Ditter were present, in addition to City staff members Donald Poss, Bambridge Peterson, Jean Murphey and Robert Haarman. Mr. Steve Krogness representing Brooklyn Center Industrial Park, Inc. , Mssrs. Howard Dahlgren and Dave Nelson representing Midwest Planning and Research, Inc. were also present. Chairman Jensen recognized Mr. Krogness of the industrial Park who introduced Howard Dahlgren from Midwest Planning to present; the plans for commercial and industrial development within the Brooklyn Center industrial Park area. Midwest Planning and Research, Inc. are the consulting planners for B.C.I.P. Mr. Dah1gren discussed the present "plan" for B.C.I.P. in terms of recent market analysis and indicated that a printed report for cn4.s newest: plan would be forthconting with copies made available to the City. Mr. Dahlgren explained that the purpose of the ,.r� :Ptir_g would be to present to the Planning Commission. an overview of re-defined plans for B.C.I.P. for their consideration and S.,ggesti.oIls. Following that review and much discussion, the consensus of the Planning Commission members, as summarized by Chairman Jensen, was that these new plans seem to provide for appropriate land use development. City manager Don Poss explained that the proposed development plans should be considered a "guide" like the City Conprehen.sive Plan, having flexible implementation possibilities. Vie City Manager indicated that, at the direction of the Commission, he would research tools regulating land developments uniquely belonging to Interstate Freeway land uses. The City Manager further indicated that a joint meeting should be held with B.C.I.V, and their planning consultant including the City staff, the Pl.anining Commission and the City Council to again .rev.,.ew this Lund use plan proposed for the Brooklyn Center Industrial Park. lit this time, 9:34 P.M. , Chairman Jensen called for a recess. The meeting rrzumed at 9:45 P.M. (Commissioner Henry Rogucki excused himsi.:1f and left the meeting at 9:50 P.M.)
