APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Councilmember Lin Myszkowski to approve the
minutes of March 20, 2012. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported the balance in our checking account is $13,363.56.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
Sue LaCrosse said the monthly budget statement reflects an assumption we will
receive $5,000 from Medtronic, $3,500 from the Lions and $550 from Rotary.
Craft & Business Expo:
Joy Reinhart reported a previous exhibitor wanted to do Corn Dogs this
year. She met with someone from the Lions Club who had no problem with it. Joy said she did have a
problem with it because our policy has been to only have one type of vendor. After Joy explained our
policy with the Corn Dog vendor, he seemed fine with the member of the Lions Club calling him to talk
about. Later he decided not to do this. To date 16 people have signed up with a couple new ones.
Kids’ Craft Area:
Sue LaCrosse said she ordered canvas puppets that the kids can decorate with
fabric markers.
Family Fun & Games:
Cathy Ballot reported she has 72 prizes. She still needs door prizes.
Councilmember Lin Myszkowski said she might be able to get some door prizes and asked for a letter.
Sue LaCrosse said we have a generic donation letter. She will print some out and put them in her
mailbox at City Hall.
Golf Tournament:
Mike Meyer said he has talked to Steve Makowske, the new golf course
superintendent.
Honor Our Veterans:
No report.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse said there are prizes left over from last year. She won’t
have to purchase as much.
Music/Fireworks:
Sue LaCrosse said based on the financial situation, it doesn’t look like we can
afford more than a $5,000 show.
Parade:
Mike Meyer reported the following bands were invited: St. Peter, Park Center, Champlin,
Maple Grove and Waconia. Sue LaCrosse said we have an entry from Richfield. Mike Meyer said the
1
committee will meet to determine which paid units they will keep.
Publicity:
Jana Berentson from the Sun Post highlighted what could be done for an Earle Brown
Days supplement. The committee explained the money is being donated to pay for the supplement and
that we want to have control of what is going in it. Jana Berentson recommended doing three pages of
ads and three pages of editorial. The committee decided they would offer Minneapolis Northwest a full
page ad, a half page ad to both Lions and Rotary Clubs and then dedicate the last ad page for the Petting
Zoo, Craft & Business Expo, Golf Tournament, and Fireworks.
The meeting was running long. Joy Reinhart asked the committee if they wanted to continue. There
was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Mike Meyer to continue the meeting. Motion carried.
Petting Zoo:
Cathy Ballot said the down payment has been paid.
OLD BUSINESS:
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Councilmember Lin Myszkowski to pay the following
bills:
Northern Capital Insurance Group $1,355.00 Insurance
Allegra Print & Imaging 208.41 Envelopes
Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., Room 221 at Community Center.

Respectfully Submitted,
