HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 02-21 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes February 21, 2012 PRESENT Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Mike Meyer, Todd Cannon, Councilmember Lin Myszkowski, Phil Cohen and Sue LaCrosse. Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of January 17, 2012. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Cathy Ballot reported the balance in our checking account is $13,737.87. COMMITTEE REPORTS Budget/Finance: The committee approved the business letter. Joy Reinhart requested we add “Donations received after the May 30 Sun Post publication deadline will not be included in the special Earle Brown Days Festival section” to the back page of the sponsor form. Phil Cohen reviewed some of his ideas to get the BCBA involved, maybe with special sales or providing exhibit space at the Craft & Business Expo. He suggested the Craft & Business Expo be expanded to the Dudley weekend. Parking is extremely limited and the softball tournament draws a different type of crowd. The committee had approved the donation form. Businesses would have to become a sponsor in order to receive exhibit space. Craft & Business Expo: Joy Reinhart said we may have to add a new food vendor. One of them is losing their trailer but may purchase a new one. She said the information can go out to exhibitors. Joy said she will make an entry in the Metro Events calendar and the Midwest Region Festival. Kids’ Craft Area: Sue LaCrosse said she has a new person scheduled to work this event since Diane will be involved with helping as needed at other events. Family Fun & Games: Cathy Ballot needs at least 200 prizes. Sue LaCrosse will have someone fill the water balloons. Golf Tournament: Mike Meyer reported it will be for all adults. They would like to have at least 36 golfers with two different categories, 50+ and under 50. Hopefully, they will have box lunches again. Honor Our Veterans: No report. Kids’ Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse asked Cathy Ballot to check with the police chief to see if the police department can assist. Music/Fireworks: Sue LaCrosse said she booked a $5,000 show. She will contact Dale Greenwald to confirm Midnight Breeze. 1 Parade: Todd Cannon reported they have two bands scheduled and BCHS has been contacted. rd Mike Meyer said they will use Tri-State judges again. Phil Cohen asked if the area around 63 and France could be monitored better. Mike Meyer said they will be handing out information to all units to start handing things out after they turn the corner. Sue LaCrosse said Bixby is out of business and the City is in the process of getting a new portable restroom company. We have to use the same company. Mike Meyer said Steve Schmidt will contact Odyssey Academy and the church. Petting Zoo: There was a motion by Mike Meyer seconded by Todd Cannon to approve payment of a deposit $375 for the petting zoo. Motion carried. Publicity: The committee reviewed the schedule of events page that will go in the summer City Watch. OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: None.
