Meeting Minutes
March 20, 2012
PRESENT
Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Todd Cannon, Councilmember Lin Myszkowski, Karen Youngberg, Myrna
Kauth, Phil Cohen and Sue LaCrosse.
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:37 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the minutes of February 21,
2012. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported the balance in our checking account is $13,363.22.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
Sue LaCrosse said not much has changed. The portable restrooms will cost more
for the parade. The sinks for the Craft & Business Expo will cost less. The finance letters will go out
Wednesday.
Craft & Business Expo:
Joy Reinhart said the letters have gone out. Sue LaCrosse said that Joy
wrote a nice letter for chiropractors. A letter was sent out to a chiropractor who sent an email request.
Phil Cohen asked if the Amphitheater Fundraiser Task Force could be the nonprofit group this year.
They would like to promote the brick pavers. Joy Reinhart said yes.
Kids’ Craft Area:
No report.
Family Fun & Games:
No report.
Golf Tournament:
No report.
Honor Our Veterans:
Myrna Kauth said there will be taped music played during the band’s
break.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
Cathy Ballot said the police department will help with the contest.
Music/Fireworks:
Sue LaCrosse said we are set for a $5,000 show.
Parade:
Todd Cannon reported they do not have a grand marshal. There was a motion by Myrna
Kauth, seconded by Karen Youngberg to recommend Dale Greenwald for grand marshal. Motion
carried. Phil Cohen asked about the kids standing along the lineup area looking for handouts. Todd
Cannon said they will have one or two Lions members monitoring that area. They will also inform units

not to hand stuff out until they make the turn onto 63 Avenue.
Petting Zoo:
Cathy Ballot said the deposit check has been sent.

Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse reported she was informed we have a new Brooklyn Center Sun
Post Editor. Jonathan Young will deal exclusively with Brooklyn Park news. Also Erin has left the Post
and we will be dealing with someone new for our special insert. The committee reviewed the schedule
of events for City Watch. Minneapolis Northwest has moved to an office near the Northland Inn.
OLD BUSINESS:
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Karen Youngberg reported that Kamu Larry has left Brookdale Health. She is
assuming he will no longer continue on the Earle Brown Days committee.
NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., Room 221 at Community Center.
