HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 10-16 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 12, 2012 PRESENT Joy Reinhart, Myrna Kauth, Cathy Ballot, Karen Youngberg, Phil Cohen, Councilmember Lin Myszkowski, and Sue LaCrosse. Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the minutes of September 18, 2012. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Cathy Ballot reported the balance in the check book is $9,361.55. COMMITTEE REPORTS Budget/Finance: Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget sheet. The starting balance for next year is $9,361.55. She estimates we will have an ending balance of $6,355.47 at the end of next year’s festival. Craft & Business Expo: Joy Reinhart suggested changing the time of the Expo if we don’t have any other activities to attract people. Sue LaCrosse presented a possible schedule, which includes a puppet show and face painting. The Honor Our Veterans program will be changed to 4:30 p.m. Sue LaCrosse will contact the fire department to see if they will bring a truck. Kids’ Craft Area: No report. Family Fun & Games: Cathy Ballot said she has been buying prizes. Fireworks: Myrna Kauth suggested we call and ask them to pencil us in. Golf Tournament: Sue LaCrosse said they will continue this. Honor Our Veterans: Myrna Kauth said they are thinking of having a service man or woman from each era. They may have some equipment brought in. Kids’ Fishing Contest: Phil Cohen will check with BrookPark Dental Center to see if they will continue as the sponsor. Music : At this time, there is no money to hire a group. Parade: Sue LaCrosse will check with the Lions Club to make sure they are still going to sponsor this event. Petting Zoo: Cathy Ballot will contact them and book. Publicity: Joy Reinhart asked Karen Youngberg to check with the BCBA to see if they are 1 interested in meeting with us. Phil Cohen suggested we contact the scouts about distributing flyers door to door. Sue LaCrosse said there is a lot involved with us. She said the City used to have the swim club distribute City Watch rather than mail it. It is a major project to determine areas of distribution. There is also liability to consider with dangerous dogs and if scouts leave screen doors open. Social media, such as Facebook, was discussed as an option. We will probably not work with the Sun Post for an ad supplement again. Phil Cohen said the families like to stay for the door prizes at Family Fun & Games. He suggested we talk up that this is for families. Karen Youngberg suggested asking for door prizes from the food vendors to give away at Family Fun & Games or other events. When people see others eating something, they want to purchase it. OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: None. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 4:30 p.m., Room 221 at Community Center.
