ELECTION OF 2012-13 OFFICERS There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Phil Cohen to appoint Joy Reinhart as chairperson, Karen Youngberg as vice-chairperson, Cathy Ballot as treasurer, and Sue LaCrosse as Secretary. Motion carried. FUTURE OF EARLE BROWN DAYS Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget sheet. She said maybe we could eliminate the Craft & Business Expo and the band concert and make it a family day. Karen Youngberg asked if we would still have food vendors. Joy Reinhart said yes. Sue LaCrosse suggested a puppet show or two with the Brooklyn Center Puppet Playhouse. The cost would be minimal. Phil Cohen said we should decide what we are going to do by having a tentative plan of action. Joy Reinhart said we should get as many free events as possible. A fire truck, police vehicle and either the National Guard or North Memorial ambulance were suggested. Sue LaCrosse said if we are going to have them, it would be nice to promote it in the publicity because it would be a popular activity. Myrna Kauth questioned the number of portable restrooms at the parade. Joy Reinhart said one of the portable restrooms on Saturday was broken and did not get fixed until late. It was questioned whether we needed the band judges at the parade. Sue LaCrosse said years ago we were not able to get bands. The parade chair met with the band director at Park Center and he said we needed to offer prize money and needed to have the bands judged in order to get bands. Karen Youngberg is working to get more participation from the Business Women and the BCBA. The tentative plan of action is to continue with the following events for 2013 pending adequate financial support: Craft & Business Expo, Kids’ Fishing Contest, Fireworks, Parade, Family Fun & Games, Honor Our Veterans, and Petting Zoo. The band concert is questionable. Other family events may be planned as long as the cost is minimal or at no charge, such as a puppet show, face painting, fire truck, and helicopter. 1 PUBLICITY The committee is not sure what to spend the $2,000 we receive from Minneapolis Northwest next year. They were not happy with the Sun Post supplement. Discussions about publicity will be addressed at future meetings. OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS: Cathy Ballot will start buying prizes for Family Fun & Games. Sue LaCrosse said the dates for 2013 are June 27-29. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., Room 221 at Community Center. ADJOURN: The meeting adjourned at 5:28 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Sue LaCrosse Program Supervisor 2
