HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013 04-16 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes April 16, 2013 PRESENT Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Karen Youngberg, Phil Marbut, Judy Marbut, Mike Meyer, Councilmember Carol Kleven, Steve Makowske, Jill Dalton and Sue LaCrosse. Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Cathy Ballot reported the correct checkbook balance on March 19 was $13,329.32. There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Phil Marbut to approve the minutes of March 19, 2013 with the correction. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $16,279.32. Jill Dalton discussed her proposal for providing waste stations at Earle Brown Days. She will take care of everything. If approved, she would like to start getting volunteers at Earth Fest. She said there cannot be other trash cans in the vicinity. She said it opens people’s eyes that recycling can be done at the park. She will need between 18-36 volunteers. Phil Marbut said he will bring it up at the Lions Club meeting to see if the Leo Club would be interested in helping. Joy Reinhart asked what size the containers are and where they would be put. Jill Dalton described the size and said they would probably need five stations. The containers use bags and the bags are replaced as they fill. Joy Reinhart suggested putting one of the stations by the food vendors for their convenience. Cathy Ballot suggested they have a booth to share literature. Sue LaCrosse will contact Jody Rossi at BCHS to see if she has volunteers. There was a motion by Phil Marbut, seconded by Cathy Ballot to begin low waste initiative at Earle Brown Days. Motion carried. There was a motion by Phil Marbut, seconded by Councilmember Carol Kleven to approve five stations. Motion carried. The exact times are open. Joy Reinhart suggested to Jill Dalton that she attend the Earle Brown Days meetings. COMMITTEE REPORTS Budget/Finance: Sue LaCrosse distributed the latest budget sheet. Craft & Business Expo: Joy Reinhart reported there will be a new Kettle Corn/Shaved Ice vendor. Kids’ Craft Area: No report. Dunkin’s Jamboree: Sue LaCrosse requested a car for Dunkin to ride in at the parade. Family Fun & Games: Cathy Ballot said she is short on prizes for the 11-15 year old age group. Fire Truck: No report. Golf Tournament: Steve Makowske reported that he split the tee times into a morning session and an evening session. He will begin promoting it right away. 1 Honor Our Veterans: No report. Kids’ Fishing Contest: Cathy Ballot said it is on. Music/Fireworks: Sue LaCrosse said she has received the fireworks contract. She will need a check for the deposit to send to them. Parade: Phil Marbut reported they have Champlin Park, Park Center, Buffalo, Sauk Rapids, Henry Sibley and Mankato bands. Petting Zoo: No report. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse asked Joy Reinhart and Cathy Ballot to do the Cable show. She said the information has been sent to the Star Tribune for our ad and we should get a proof back. Puppet Show: No report. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS: There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Phil Marbut to pay Americana Fireworks Company $1,250 for the deposit. Motion carried. Cathy Ballot reported a deposit of $890. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 4:30 p.m., Room 221 at Community Center. ADJOURN: The meeting adjourned.
