Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse reported she had to turn people away from the Halloween Party and way
too many people attending Holly Sunday. She also talked to some people who said their free children’s
events were ruined because of too many people. She asked the committee which events we really need
to promote. The committee decided it was the parade, fireworks and craft & business expo. Sue
LaCrosse said she met with a representative from the Star Tribune and they now have a new option for
advertising. A glossy insert goes in the Sunday paper, with the ads and coupons. Champlin Father
Hennepin Days advertises this way. We can select what zipcodes we want. The cost is $1,120 for
35,000 papers or $1,500 for 50,000 papers. There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Tom
Shinnick to do an insert in the Sunday paper. Motion carried. The committee would like zipcodes
55429, 55430, 55443, 55444 and 55422. Sue LaCrosse will find out how many that equals. The
number of copies will be discussed at a future meeting. It was suggested we put a door prize slip on one
side for them to bring the Craft & Business Expo.
