Meeting Minutes
June 4, 2013
PRESENT
Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Karen Youngberg, Phil Marbut, Mike Meyer, Councilmember Carol Kleven,
Myrna Kauth, Jill Dalton and Sue LaCrosse.
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:34 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of May 21,
2013. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $19,450.02. Karen Youngberg reported the BCBA will
probably donate $200 for the Petting Zoo. Karen Youngberg will donate $100 for the Petting Zoo and
$25 for coins for Family Fun and Games.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
Sue LaCrosse distributed the budget spreadsheet. She said we should have about
$8,700 at the end of the year.
Craft & Business Expo:
Joy Reinhart reported we are up to 28 vendors. She is working on the spaces
and they should be ready by the next meeting.
Kids’ Craft Area:
No report.
Dunkin’s Jamboree:
Sue LaCrosse reported we are probably going to be short staff for the Dunkin
Party. Cathy Ballot and Councilmember Carol Kleven volunteered to work.
Face Painting:
All set.
Family Fun & Games:
Cathy Ballot said she still needs prizes. Karen Youngberg said she might be
able to get some gift certificates.
Fire Truck:
All Set.
Golf Tournament:
No report.
Honor Our Veterans:
Myrna Kauth said the equipment will be left all day. She has the program set.
The presentation of the colors will be done by the Palmer Lake VFW and the Pledge of Allegiance by
Boy Scout Troop 304. Keith Lester and John Myszkowski will sing. Myrna Kauth will introduce Jim
Brickman of the Crystal Military Museum.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse will contact BrookPark Dental to find out if they will have
volunteers.

Music/Fireworks:
Sue LaCrosse contacted Jamie from the fireworks company. She said they received
the signed contract. The band will need the extensions on the showmobile.
Parade:
Phil Marbut reported the band letters are done. The BC Rotary and Legion have been added to
the fireworks banner. He said he asked FastSigns to make a banner for themselves because they have
donated the signs and banners. Mike Meyer said they are getting together tomorrow to put together the
lineup.
Petting Zoo:
Cathy Ballot said the Petting Zoo will be extended for ½ hour and they will bring ponies.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said she hasn’t heard when the taping of our segment will be.
Puppet Show:
No report.
Recycling:
Joy Reinhart reported that she and Jill figured out where the bins will go.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Karen Youngberg reported the Maple Grove soccer program uses golf carts to transport people from the
parking lot to the fields. She suggested we talk about this for next year.
Cathy Ballot reported a deposit of $1,675.

There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Mike Meyer to pay the bills. Motion carried.
Joy Reinhart reported she will not be continuing after her term expires. She said we will need a new
chair for EBD and a new chair for the Craft & Business Expo.
Jill Dalton contacted the food vendors. Approximately 75-80% will be recyclable or compostable. We
will have the containers delivered on Friday. Sue LaCrosse will try to figure out where they can put
them because on Friday we have a big event.
