Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
September 17, 2013
PRESENT
Joy Reinhart, Phil Marbut, Judy Marbut, Tom Shinnick, Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Carol Kleven,
Myrna Kauth, Mike Meyer, Lin Myszkowski and Sue LaCrosse.
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of July 16, 2013.
Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a Bremer Bank balance of $10,112.82. She said there are two outstanding checks
equaling $450. Phil Marbut will call the Sauk Rapids Band. The checkbook balance is $9,662.82.
There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Lin Myszkowski to approve the treasurer’s report.
Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
There is no finance chair for 2014. Councilmember Carol Kleven reported the
Women’s Club will donate $200.
Craft & Business Expo:
Joy Reinhart said she would help someone with this event. Myrna Kauth and
Sue LaCrosse have asked a couple of people if they would be interested in running this event. Joy
Reinhart said the food vendors are planning to return.
Kids’ Craft Area:
Sue LaCrosse said we would continue this event. She will have to order more
projects because we ran out.
Face Painting:
Sue LaCrosse said this is a great activity, but we should wait to see what our finances
are.
Family Fun & Games:
Cathy Ballot said they will continue this event.
Fire Truck:
The committee would like to have the fire truck.
Golf Tournament:
Sue LaCrosse said she assumes that Steve Makowske will continue this event.
Honor Our Veterans:
Myrna Kauth reported that it will depend on interest from other organizations.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse said this event should be continued if we have a sponsor.
Music/Fireworks:
Sue LaCrosse said she has requested $5,000 in the Earle Brown Days city budget to
cover the cost of the fireworks. She does not believe we would find a sponsor.
Parade:
Phil Marbut reported he and John Krause are co-chairing the parade. Judy Marbut will also be

helping. Phil Marbut will work with the bands. The parade will move to Dupont. Myrna Kauth asked
if the band trailers could go to the end of the parade instead of going down the parade route. There was
some confusion on the lineup. Joy Reinhart said her driver was driving really fast, which was not
necessary because they got to the area by Channel 12 and it was backed up.
Petting Zoo:
Cathy Ballot said they are all set.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said this will depend on whether we receive a donation from Minneapolis
Northwest.
Puppet Show:
Sue LaCrosse said she doesn’t think the turnout was good enough to have for 2014.
Recycling:
Joy Reinhart said it was very successful. Sue LaCrosse said Jill Dalton sent her an email
requesting contact with the food vendors a little earlier.
Approval of Renewal of Board Members:
Sue LaCrosse reported Phil Cohen’s term expires
September 30, 2014. He has submitted his letter of resignation. She said Joy Reinhart, Karen
Youngberg and Mike Meyer will not renew. There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Mike
Meyer to approve board renewals for Lin Myszkowski, Phil Marbut, Judy Marbut, Myrna Kauth and
Sue LaCrosse and the appointment of John Krause to end September 30, 2014. Motion carried.
Approval of 2014 Officers:
There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Phil Marbut to approve
Cathy Ballot as treasurer and Sue LaCrosse as Secretary for 2013-2014. Motion carried.
