HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013 09-18 AFM Amphitheater Fundraising Task Force Meeting Notes September 18, 2013 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth, Keith Lester, Sharon Kephart and Sue LaCrosse. Minutes: There was a motion by Keith Lester, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the minutes of September 4, 2013. Motion carried. Financial Report: Sue LaCrosse reported a cash balance of $158,485.21. This does not include pledges or in-kind donations. It was reported that Karen Orn made a donation of $500. Sue LaCrosse said Dale Greenwald called to say he would like to make another donation and Dr. Orn said Tom Weber indicated that Evans-Nordby will make a donation of $2,500 and purchase two pavers. Luther: Dr. Duane Orn said he has had conversation with Linda McGinty almost weekly. In one of the conversations, he told her we would revisit the naming rights. Sharon Kephart recommended a minimum of $100,000 for Amphitheater naming rights and $75,000 for the Plaza of Honor naming rights. The committee decided to table the discussion. Centaur Foundation: A letter has been drafted that would go out to the Centaur Foundation members. Earl Simons said we should add a paragraph describing additional donor opportunities for those who would like to contribute more. Along with the letter, a brick paver and donation form would be included. Dr. Duane Orn said he would be willing to pay the postage. Keith Lester will find out when the next mailing goes out. Gary Bremer: Dr. Duane Orn said that Phil Cohen will try to set up a meeting with Gary Bremer. Phil will email Sue LaCrosse and she will forward the information to Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth and Dr. Duane Orn. James Snoxell: We received a check from Henningson & Snoxell. Paul Hyde: Myrna Kauth has left a couple of messages for Paul and has not heard back. The committee will send him a letter along with a packet. Naming Rights: Dr. Duane Orn asked the committee to start thinking of naming rights. Friends of the Amphitheater: Dr. Duane Orn suggested possible team members for a Friends of the Amphitheater Board. Sue LaCrosse said she thinks the recreation department will program it and schedule outside groups. Keith Lester said we are putting the cart before the horse. Comcast: Dr. Duane Orn reported he is meeting with Comcast on Friday, September 19. Mayor Tim Willson and Mr. Rex Newman may attend. VFW & Elks Lodge Follow-up: Earle Simons reported he has contacted the VFW and the Elks Lodge. Sue LaCrosse will draft a letter for both. The letter along with a packet will be mailed. Other: Sue LaCrosse reported the soil borings came back with less than desirable results and the amphitheater could cost as much as $50,000 more. She is looking at power needs for stage lighting and sound. Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting: Wednesday, October 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the community center – Room 221.
