HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014 02-05 AFM Amphitheater Fundraising Task Force Meeting Notes February 5, 2014 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth, Sharon Kephart and Sue LaCrosse. Minutes: There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Earl Simons to approve the minutes of January 22, 2014 with a correction of the date from January 8 to January 22. Motion carried. Financial Report: Dr. Duane Orn said Beth Rahberg donated an additional $250 so their name can go on the wall. Earl Simons distributed the memo he sent to the VFW. He said he included a packet. There was a motion by Earl Simons, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the financial report. Motion carried. Blumentals Update: Dr. Duane Orn and Sue LaCrosse reported they attended the meeting with Curt Boganey, Jim Glasoe, Janis Blumentals and Jim Moy. Janis Blumentals outlined several ideas that would cut costs while maintaining the quality and aesthetic appeal of the original design. Sue LaCrosse said Blumentals will be going back to the contractor to find out what is causing the increase. They will look at soil, fiber optic lines, and a possible location change. Medtronic: Dr. Duane Orn will get a phone number for Jacob Gayle, Vice-President of Philanthropy. Luther: Dr. Duane Orn shared an article that appeared in the latest Time Magazine. It featured David Luther as Time Dealer of the Year - Regional Finalist. Gene Nelson: Dr. Duane Orn has contacted them again. They said it was not a good time. Comcast: Sharon Kephart will talk to Mike Johnson again and try to get a phone number for Emmett Coleman from the Comcast Foundation. Eldon Tessman: A meeting is scheduled with Eldon Tessman on Tuesday, February 13 at 8:00 a.m. Park Nicollet: No report. Mark Allen: Earl Simons talked to him. Other: Dr. Orn wrote a letter to the Mayor and Curt Boganey regarding the committee’s disappointment in the cost estimate. Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned.
