The minutes from June 2, 1992 were approved. AMBASSADORS: Cohen reported the letters are out. So far the only response he has gotten is from St. Paul Book who said they receive too many requests. Kragness reported donations from Kahiher and Laconic, Carson and Clelland, Cass Screw, and Malmborg's. Cohen and his committee will now be making personal contacts. LaCrosse said some businesses have called her and the main thing they want to know is how their business will be recognized. Kragness said they will all receive a certificate. It was • decided the businesses should be recognized verbally and on posters at as many events as possible. BARN DANCE: Kragness said the volunteers are coming along great. She needs to order hot dogs and six different kinds of candy. The extras can be used on Sunday at the car show. Bergeland said the Heritage Center caterers will provide the beer, popcorn, and pop. CAR SHOW: Nerburn has been distributing flyers to businesses. LaCrosse asked him if next year he would take posters also to avoid sending two people to the same business with promotion. He said he has a concession stand for outside and wondered who was going to sell indoors. Bergeland said she thought the committee was going to. Nerburn said Scoreboard Pizza would be willing to bring pizzas for us to sell. He reported that Big Wheel Rossi might be willing to sponsor the whole car show next year. Kragness will check with the barn dance people to see if they can sell concessions. Risley and Ditty said they can help. Nerburn asked if they could put up boulevard signs for the car show again. LaCrosse said last year we received special permission from Mr. Splinter and Ron Warren issued permits. She will check with Mr. Splinter to see if this is possible. ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Bergeland said the confirmations went out and to date she has 48 crafters and 3 food vendors. With the map she drew up, there is room for 60. There is a meeting on Thursday to mak er assignments including who will distribute posters and flyers. Kragness reported that TJ Max has donated $20 gift certificates. LaCrosse said since the flyer has been done for the games/picnic, maybe they could be promoted and given away at the craft fair. Kragness said WCCO radio would like to be at the craft show on Friday, June 26. They will run broadcast from the site and give away small cups of coffee. Bergeland will firm things up. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: LaCrosse asked Kragness if she had a schedule of when the community band is performing at this event. Kragness said she would find out. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham will need checks next week. They will use the Lions float. She has volunteers who are willing to spend the time and money to repair. The judging starts tomorrow. KID'S FISHING CONTEST: LaCrosse said Dorff brought over some prizes given by the Zenanko's. They are still expecting some rods to donate to us. PARADE: Risley reported 113 units with 15 bands. He has not heard from the City Council and will call them. He said they have enough interest with community groups to sell concessions that they will not be using outside vendors. LaCrosse said they still need to apply for food vendor licenses. Highlights of the parade include the St. Paul Winter Carnival, Paul Wellstone, and the Vulcan. He needs some place for the Vulcan to shower and take off makeup because nothing is permitted inside the high school this summer. LaCrosse said they could shower at the community center. They will use the outside concession stand. • PICNIC/GAMES: Dorff passed out flyers of the event which shows the contributors on the back. LaFevere will get the volunteers at Rotary today. Nerburn said he needs a cash box with start up money. Bergeland said we need a total of three cash boxes with start up money of $100 each. LaCrosse said she will inform Cummings and provide the cash boxes. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse said everything is done. TALENT CONTEST: Neilson said there are not many talent contest entries. LaCrosse said there are 23. Neilson said maybe it should be cancelled for the year. LaCrosse said from her experience once an event is cancelled, it is very difficult to get it going again. Dorff asked how much money this event would lose. Neilson said about $1,000. LaCrosse said the deadline is set for friday and there could be registrations coming in on monday. Bergeland suggested waiting to make a decision until next tuesda s meeting. .g OLD BUSINESS: Kragness said she received another letter from ASCAP. Neilson said he talked to Paul Holmlund and told Paul that once you get on one of these lists, its a domino effect. Neilson said if they come after us, they would have to go after everyone. LaCrosse said after EBD is over, we could develop a survey to send out to other festivals to see if they are paying money to either ASCAP or BMI. NEW BUSINESS: Risley reported the Lions are buying t-shirts and hats for the P arade volunteers. They will have the Lions logo on it. He brought a sample of another t-shirt which could be purchased for the other EBD volunteers. The shirts are done by C & K Screening and the price is $5 per shirt based on a minimum of 50.
