Cummings reported a balance of $12,289.54 as of 6/2/92 before these deposits. There was a motion by Bergeland, seconded by Neilson to approve payment of the bills. Motion carried. Kragness said Cummings had set up an account at Bizmart, but the person is no longer working there. Rather than charge at Bizmart, committee chairs can call 1-800-688-6268 to order the needed supplies. They will give you an amount over the phone. The chair can then request a check for that amount and then pick supplies up. Cohen asked how this would be controlled. Kragness said we have a maximum of $150 budged and they must request the check and submit receipts. AMBASSADORS: Cohen said the letters were out and he will be making contacts. Nyquist will make contacts with his usual businesses. CAR SHOW: Bergeland reported for Nerburn that everything is going fine. North Memorial is donating the things for under the car. • CRAFT FAIR: Bergeland reported she has 43 crafters and 3 food vendors with 1 more coming in. Applications are still going out every day. The craft fair committee will meet on Thursday and send out the information and placement of booths. Flyers and posters have been made up. LaCrosse asked committee members to take posters and craft fair flyers and distribute. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Cohen will take care of program: Introduction of junior royalty, committee, speeches, community band, mayor, etc. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham reported on the orientation and pool party last Saturday with 4 boys and 11 girls. Other events coming up include bumper bowling, Good Company on June 23 and most Earle Brown Days events. Earle Brown Bowl and Bridgeman's will bill EBD but would like payment within 10 days. FISHING CONTEST: Dorff said he got some prizes for the contest from Tom Zenanko's wife. He said they are still planning to get us fishing rods. LaCrosse said we may not have any expenses for this event. PARADE: Risley said he has 100 units. The Blaine High School band dropped out because of lack of funds. However, he picked up two more bands bringing the total number of bands to 14. Graham asked if there would be a float for the junior royalty. Risley said the Lions floats are in terrible shape but he will check with the Camden Lions Club. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse showed the committee the festivals column in the Arts section of the Star Tribune. After much discussion, LaCrosse suggested that we put in • one ad in this column on Sunday, June 20 and place a small display ad for the craft fair in the Thursday, June 25 Variety section. This would be in addition to the separate display ads for the craft fair and EBD events placed on June 19, 22, 24. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Pollock to place these ads in the Star Tribune. Motion carried. Kragness reported on KCW Radio who sent her information on advertising. She said normally the ads are $25 each but they would give them to us for $10 each. Along with the paid radio ads, they would do a calendar of events. They told Kragness their listeners are 25-34 years old and it is a country radio. No one on the committee had listened to it. LaCrosse said when we advertised with WCCO radio we really didn't see very good results. Kragness will get more information about the station and report back at the next meeting. PICNIC/GAMES: LaCrosse said she called Lisa at the Olive Garden per Cohen's request. She told them we were interested in having balloons and ice cream at the picnic/games event. Lisa asked her if balloons could be given away at Sunday In Central Park. LaCrosse said yes and asked her what type of balloons they were. Lisa told her helium filled balloons. She will check with her supervisor and get back to LaCrosse. Dorff said he has 45 prizes and will give away first, second and third place ribbons to winners. LaCrosse asked Dorff if the Rotary Club knew they had to have volunteers to • help set up at event. Dorff said he thinks they plan to have people there at noon with the event starting at 2:30 p.m. • TALENT CONTEST: LaCrosse said she has received 18 applications to date, which is at about the same rate as last year. Neilson said he needs a judge from the committee for the finals. LaCrosse suggested Kathy Flesher from the parks and recreation department. She will ask her. ADJOURN.
