Adjournment • I Earle Brown Days Brooklyn Center Minnesota 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway 55430 (612) 561-5440 Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes May 21, 1990 City Hall Those present: Bergeland, Nerburn, Jacobsen, Dorff, Harris, Cohen, Roen, Cummings, Neilson, Nyquist, Graffunder and LaCrosse. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes from May 7 were approved. FINANCIAL REPORT: Cummings reported a balance of $3 , 279 . 30 as of 5/21/90, which includes $1, 000 donation each from Lions and Rotary. Cohen made a motion, seconded by Dorff, to approve the deposit payment for the Teddy Bear Band to perform on June 23 . Motion passed. Motion made by Dorff to approve financial report. Seconded by Jacobsen. Motion passed. • AMBASSADORS: Bergeland asked Cohen what we have made the past two years. Cohen said he would have those figures by the next meeting. CARNIVAL: Advance tickets are for sale at the community center. LaCrosse asked everyone to promote. PARADE: Grand marshal will probably be Hal Scott. STREET DANCE: Solid Gold will contact Bergeland directly about the availability of electricity and stage info. ANTIQUE SHOW: Haven't received money ($1, 500) yet. CRAFT SHOW: Income of 1 $ 200 to date. Jacobsen and Alford went to craft show at state fair and passed out flyers. LaCrosse placed ads in Star Tribune and Post. LaCrosse suggested putting picnic tables near food vendors. Bergeland said we may want to consider indoors next years. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Had 20 children at orientation and pool party. TURTLE RACES: Will be at Heritage Center. Harris will let Bergeland know how much space they need. LIARS CONTEST: Harris was not able to pull it together. She needs • to start earlier. TALENT SHOW: Seems to be a lot of interest. Applications are out. 5 CAR SHOW: Nerburn has passed out lots of flyers and is hoping for good weather. PUBLICITY: Northwest News is planning to have an issue on June 16 . Bergeland reported the Post will do the EBD tabloid with or without our copy. Tierny told her they didn't need us. Cohen said we need publicity and should cooperate and then decide later how we want to proceed for the future. Nyquist made a motion to send a letter to Pat at northwest News designating them as the official tabloid newspaper of Earle Brown Days. Seconded by Nerburn. Motion i passed. Bergeland will call Tierny to let him know we will give E him flyers and schedule and they will have to write their own copy. There will be an insert in the June Chamber newsletter. It will consist of a schedule of events on one side and several activities such as parade and craft show will be described in depth on other side. We ran 200 posters last year. Dorff suggested same logo design as last year. For banners he suggested putting between telephone poles on 57th Ave. , one facing east, another facing west. Splinter said Dorff would need to contact NSP and the county. Bergeland said we can put one on the water tower at the Heritage Center. Dorff thinks we need 12-16 directional signs. LaCrosse will check with Ron Warren. Dorff will contact businesses and schools about placing EBD on their outdoor signs. NEW BUSINESS: Nyquist reported we will know on June 9 if we are • the All America City. Bergeland passed out a revised budget as of 5/21 showing a deficit of $2 , 308 for the festival . Nerburn says he is concerned about the I future of EBD. Cohen said the City has given a lot of support. He said we should save long term planning for a future meeting. NEXT MEETING: Monday, June 4 , 7 : 30 a.m. Earle Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Drive.
