Meeting Minutes
March 5, 1990
City Hall
Those present: Bergeland, Nerburn, Graham, Vreeland, Kaehler,
Risley, Benson, Jacobsen, Roen, Neilson, Graffunder, Harris
Cummings, and LaCrosse.
AMBASSADORS: 1500 invitations for the charitable ball will be
mailed out. Flyers were inserted in the City Manager' s Newsletter.
Bergeland said 25 corporate tables have been sold.
CARNIVAL: We have a signed contract. LaCrosse will try to get the
Teddy Bear Band for Saturday at 6: 30 p.m. and the WLOL boom box for
Saturday afternoon. ,
PARADE: Risley said the parade committee will meet the third
Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at City Hall in room B. There are
three bands to date.
• BUTTONS/MEMORABILIA: Bergeland said no one has expressed an
interst in taking this on. Motion by Risley, seconded by Benson
to scrap the buttons this year. Motion passed.
STREET DANCE: Will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight in the central
mall court area. Concession stands can be on the grass facing the
sidewalk.
ANTIQUE SHOW: Hours Friday, 11 a.m. -9 p.m. , Saturday 9a.m. -5 p.m.
Contract was sent.
CRAFT SHOW: Hours Saturday 9 a.m. -5 p.m. , Sunday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Electricity is only available in mall area. Drinking water will
not be available, craftors should be told to bring their own. Need
three portable restrooms. Committee would like to put up flags or
balloons. Parks and recreation dept. has flags and could provide
stakes. Bergeland will check on availability of the 6400 building
for craftors, but is concerned about having adequate parking for
customers.
JUNIOR ROYALTY: Letters are going out to schools in the next
couple weeks. Hope to get something in Post.
TURTLE RACES: Everything is done.
• LIAR'S CONTEST: Flyer is done. Harris wants to distribute to
several different avenues, i.e. Schools, colleges, media, chamber.
She wants them to go out this month.
TALENT SHOW: To be held at Brookdale. Preliminaries held June 14
and 15 at 7 p.m. and June . 16 at 2 p.m. June 17 would also be
available in case it' s needed. Finals will be held on June 18 at
7 p.m. Brookdale requires a waiver be signed by all participants.
Also needed is $1, 000, 000 liability insurance coverage by Earle
Brown Days.
Applications will be sent out and will also be available at
community center, library and Brookdale service center. Brookdale
prohibits fire, pets and rock bands.
Neilson wants to call it something other than Earle Brown Days
talent show. , A possibility is Minnesota Stairway to Stardom in
conjunction with Earle Brown Days. Motion by Benson, seconded by
Nerburn to leave name up to Neilson. Motion passed.
CAR SHOW: Coupon eliminated. There were 7, 000 flyers distributed
at the World of Wheel Show. Nerburn wants to sell Scoreboard
Pizza. Nerburn needs four portable bathrooms. LaCrosse will get
a quote from BFI and Waste Management concerning all the bathroom
requests.
PUBLICITY: A special publicity meeting will be held on Monday,
March 19 at 7 : 30 a.m. in the conference room in the stable building
at the farm. Anyone from the committee is welcome to attend.
CHAMBER EVENTS: Vreeland said the cost is too high for the hot
dog/bean feed. They won't be able to do it.
They will sponsor a 5K and Fun Run on Saturday at 8 a.m. •
NEW BUSINESS: There was discussion on concession stands and the
criteria for letting them set up. This was tabled to the April
meeting.
Bergeland read a letter from someone wanting to set up a table for
SPRINT.
Committee thought it would be an inappropriate activity at Earle
Brown Days.
The charitable ball needs auction items. Call Lisa Kaehler at
Brookdale or Judith Bergeland if you have something.
NEXT MEETING: Monday, April 2 , 7 : 30 a.m. City Hall Council
Chambers.
