Adjournment Earle Brown Days Brooklyn Center Minnesota 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway 55430 (612) 561 5440 Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes December 4 , 1989 City Hall Those present: Risley, Nerburn, Bergeland, Kaehler, Graffunder, Rudquist, Cohen, Cummings, Jacobsen, Roen, Nyquist, Harris, Splinter, LaCrosse. APPROVAL OF MINUTES : The minutes from November 6 were approved. FINANCIAL REPORT: Rudquist reported a balance of $2 , 993 . 44 as of 12/4/89 . AMBASSADORS: Will be coordinating the grand opening at the Heritage Center with a fund raising activity on May 4 . Up to 700 people can be seated for dinner. $50 for a ticket. Corporate tables of ten and some left for individuals. Cohen wants to know how much money we will need. • They may have a silent auction preceding the dinr.•.r. CARNIVAL: Bergeland and Graf funder drafted a revised contract with a lot more specifics. Sent it, along with cover letter and maps, to Klein. Bergeland also sent a letter to Cambridge Properties confirming use of land. PARADE: Risley has spent the last month familiarizing himself with the history of the parade. His first committee meeting will be held in January. BUTTONS/MEMORABILIA: Bergeland will check with Graham to see if the junior royalty parents are interested. If not. Risley said he would check with the Lions ' members. STREET DANCE: The band Solid Gold is secured for $700. JUNIOR ROYALTY: No report. ANTIQUE SHOW: No contacts have been made yet. Show should be at least two days; Friday and Saturday were suggested. CRAFT SHOW: Benson is working hard on the mailing list. The street would be closed at the north end of Earle Brown Drive. Splinter will send a map as to what streets can be closed off. • Then the committee can determine how many tables they can have. Probably charge $50. CRAFT SHOW (CONTINUED) : With both events going on Saturday, the committee will have to look at auxiliary parking or shuttle bus service. TURTLE RACES: Are confirmed for Sunday. The time will be 5-6 p.m. in Central Park. MISS BROOKLYN CENTER: No report. TALENT SHOW: Will be at Brookdale. CAR SHOW: Nerburn is requesting a budget of $800 for expenses. He proposed we charge $2 admission for adults. Would like to have flyers passed out at Dudley. Risley suggested stuffing it in the softball paper that everyone gets. LaCrosse will check with Arnie Mavis. Cohen made a motion to move the car show to June 17 . Seconded by Risley. Passed unanimously. PUBLICITY: Harris reminded everyone to put the schedule of activities on the back of all flyers. BANNERS/SIGNS : No report. • ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Kaehler reported more than 800 were served. And the entertainment for children was successful. 1OK/5K RUN: No report. HOT DOG/BEAN FEED: No report. PARK & REC: No report. BEER/BINGO: Splinter suggested limiting the number of new events because of the two sites. There was a motion by Risley to table this event. Seconded by Harris. Passed unanimously. LIARS CONTEST: Would like to find someone for grand marshal who could tie into this. Don Shelby was suggested. NEXT MEETING: Monday, January 8, 7 : 30 a.m. City Hall Council Chambers. Committee 11 meet once a month January-April, twice in May, and every week in June. OLD BUSINESS : TEEN ACTIVITY: Some of the activities already planned will be promoted at the jr. and sr. high schools. NEW BUSINESS: TALK TO CIVIC GROUPS: Bergeland asked for volunteers to talk about EBD to civic groups.
