Meeting Minutes
July 9 , 1991
PRESENT: Bergeland, Dorff, Neilson, Nyquist, Benson, Roen,
Risley, Benjamin, Cohen, LaCrosse.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Bergeland reported the Car Show revenues were
$1, 116, expenses were $700, profit $416 ; Barn dance revenues were
$416 . 10 admissions and $325. 95 concessions, expenses $1, 850 band,
$80. 65 food. Bergeland is waiting for bill from atrium for pop
and popcorn.
Additional income included $500 for no show parade units, $100 from
North Memorial, $100 Bill West and $2 , 345 craft show.
Balance $7, 530. 87 as of 7/9/91.
• Bergeland requested the following bills to be paid.
City of Brooklyn Center for postage $ 356. 87
City of Brooklyn Center for food-parade & barn dance 395. 05

Abe Benson-paper, stamps, cloggers 126. 70

Risley said there will be a bill to replace walkman radios stolen
during parade at Brooklyn Center High School . Bergeland asked if
our insurance would cover the cost of radios. After discussion it
was decided the deductible would cost more than the cost of radios.
Talent contest entry fees were approximately $1, 200 . To help cover
costs. Bergeland recommended raising entry fees to: Adults $25,
Teens $20, and children $15 .
The craft show spend around $900. Bergeland suggested sending
information to crafters earlier.
Bergeland is waiting to hear from Graham on ticket and button sales
from the coronation.
Neilson would like to give merchandise or gift certificates from
Brookdale merchants instead of cash. Cohen said Neilson would need
the cooperation from management.
Bergeland said the Charitable Ball, featuring the Wolverines, will
be held October 25. She asked if Earle Brown Days wanted to be
involved with the auction. Cohen said you can only go to the well
so many times and the sponsorship of activities works well for
Earle Brown Days. Bergeland said she would prefer not to be
involved. Cohen said he wouldn't want to compromise the
effectiveness of the Earle Brown Days donations so soon after Earle
Brown Days.
There was a motion by Dorff seconded by Benjamin for Earle Brown
Days to defer involvement in the auction to the chamber for their
revenue enhancement. Motion carried.
There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Risley to pay bills as
listed. Motion carried.
Bergeland said she is not in a position to chair the committee next
year. LaCrosse suggested a small sub committee be formed to find
a chair. Neilson,1 on, Nyquist, Dorff, Cohen and Bergeland volunteered
to do this.

Bergeland said she talked to Nerburn and he would like to expand
the car show indoors next Y ears.
Benson said she heard comments from crafters about going indoors.
LaCrosse said the parks and recreation office received calls from
people who thought the barn dance was formal because the band was
pictured wearing tuxedos.
Next meeting: Tuesday, September 10, 1991, 7 : 30 a.m. City Hall,
Conference Room A.
