Meeting Minutes
June 4, 1991
PRESENT: Risley, Bergeland, Graham, Dorff, Benjamin, Cohen,
Neilson, Pollack, Benson, Cummings, and LaCrosse.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Bergeland reported receiving $2 , 000 from North
Metro Convention and Tourism, $150 from NSP, $50 from Lowells, $150
Northport Medical, $100 First Bank of Robbinsdale. This brings the
donations total to 5 625 • 2 000 is earmarked for publicity

is needed. Cohen said he doesn't see that as a problem.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by
Dorff to approve the minutes of May 28 , 1991. Motion carried.

There was a motion by Nelson, seconded by Pollack to approve the
bills. Motion carried.
There was discussion on trophies. Graham said she orders junior
royalty trophies from Trophies by Linda in Maple Grove. She
includes engraving in her costs. Cohen said we usually get a
donation from Viking Trophies. Committee chairs can get their own
prices.
AMBASSADORS: Cohen reported that Nyquist is still making contacts.
Bergeland asked Cummings to make a detailed financial report.
CRAFT FAIR: Benson sent out 133 applications to crafters and 20 to
food vendors. They are coming in slow. There are 16 crafters and
2 food vendors.
TALENT CONTEST: Neilson reported 32 entries to date. He doesn't
think there will be a problem in reaching the minimum. Benson
would like to be a judge. Neilson would like information about the
events to announce at contest. j

PARADE: Risley said Pat Enniga and Betty Walters will be the Grand
Marshals. They co-founded SOCM. Risley would like to have the
City Council proclaim June 27 as SOCM Day in Brooklyn Center. They
will also have a marching unit including anyone who is home on
military leave. SOCM wants to provide yellow ribbons along the
parade route. Risley reported 100 units and 10 bands. LaCrosse
said Park Center called to see if their entry was received. Risley
said no but he would save a place for them.

JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham said they need a float to ride on. Risley
said he might have one but he doesn't know how many people will fit
on it. Graham said she would have the royalty ride and the 1991
candidates walk.
BARN DANCE: Bergeland would like to have left over hot dogs from
parade to use for dance. Risley said he' s working with parks &
recreation. There won't be �
any extras because they' ll dust return
the unused hot dogs. Bergeland asked if dance could do this.
LaCrosse said she will check with Arnie Mavis.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: MC will be Nyquist and Cohen. Both ice cream
stores are contributing.

PUBLICITY: Benson said she can get two spots a day from a St. Paul •
radio station for free. LaCrosse asked if there would be eo le

that could distribute the posters. Benjamin said NW News could
distribute some, Graham said the junior royalty parents are
available and Larry Roen was suggested. Posters will be ordered.
NEW BUSINESS : Pollack donated a night at the Bed and Breakfast to
be used as a door prize for the drawing. There was a motion by
Risley, seconded b Benjamin to let people register for the door

prize drawing at both the craft fair and barn dance, with the final
drawing g on Saturday.turda Motion carried.
ADJOURN: There was a motion by Dorff, seconded by Neilson to
adjourn. Motion carried.
