HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991 05-28 EBDM 1 Earle Brown Days Brooklyn Center Minnesota 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway 55430 (612) 561-5440 Earle Brown Meeting Minutes May 28 , 1991 PRESENT: Bergeland, Graham, Dorff, Pollack, Cohen, Neilson, and LaCrosse FINANCIAL REPORT: Bergeland reported $3 , 400 thus far in donations. To come is $2 , 000 from North Metro Tourism for publicity. Per the board' s request, Bergeland met with Jeff Engstrom from the Post. We need copy ready by June 4 . The Post has agreed to provide a list of advertisers, 10% commission with a $400 minimum. We will receive 25% of the copy in the tab, plus front and back pages. Bergelend said she asked Benjamin to put together a dollar amount on what their contribution has been. This is so they can be included on the contributor's list. • BILL APPROVAL: LaCrosse asked for approval to pay Anoka County Shopper for $486 for two ads - $243 Craft Fair and $243 events. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Neilson to approve this bill . Motion carried. Also needed for approval is a bill from Kentco Signs for $96 to change dates on four banners. There was a motion by Neilson seconded by Dorff to approve payment to Kentco Signs. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Graham to approve the minutes Pp of May 14, 1991. Motion carried. AMBASSADORS : Cohen anticipates at least another $2 , 000-3 , 000 in contributions from a list that Nyquist has. He said the effort still has to be made with the personal contacts, especially for the major contributors. Bergeland suggested contacting Viking Trophy. Cohen said he will ask him if the would either contribute trophies for Junior Royalty and Talent contest or give us a cash donation. DOOR PRIZE DRAWING: Dorff reported the door prize drawing to be held at the Craft Fair. It will give us the opportunity to see where people are coming from. Dorff passed around a sign up sheet for workers at the door prize drawing booth. He has meal donations from T-Wrights, Holiday Inn and LaCasita. Days Inn contributed a • night ' s stay. 6 JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham has scheduled a pool party and orientation at North View. The selection process begins June 12 . Finalists and 1990 royalty will ride in the parade. The Coronation will be held on June 30 . There was a motion by Graham, seconded by Pollack to move the coronation from 3 p.m. to 2 p.m. so the Aquatennial Junior Royalty can attend. Motion passed. Admission to Coronation will cost $2/adults, $1/ages 6-12 , Free/5 and under. BARN DANCE: "Party Machine" is a 7 piece variety horn, band playing music from the big band era to the contemporary sounds of today. TALENT CONTEST: LaCrosse reported 15 contestants have registered to date. Deadline is June 8 . PUBLICITY: LaCrosse asked for suggestions for sites to put the fourth banner. Two will go on County Road 10 and one at Brookdale. The City' s property on Shingle Creek Parkway was suggested. LaCrosse will check with the City Manager and planning dept. • LaCrosse said the photographer has estimated it will cost $55 for film and processing. He asked that he be given credit for his pictures. There was a motion by Pollack, seconded by Graham to accept the photographer' s offer.
