the agenda.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Bergeland reported donations from the following
organizations and businesses:

There is also a commitment of $250 from Malmbergs and $100 from Bill
West. Cummings arrived and reported a balance of $9, 130 . 40 as of
5/14/91.
Bergeland said over 200 letters went out to Brooklyn Center businesses
and city vendors. Nerburn suggested soliciting the small businesses as
well as the larger ones. Cohen said the original goal of the
ambassadors was to personally contact businesses. There were about 20
ambassadors at that time, each contacting 10 businesses. Cohen said we
could do another mailing, but people power is really needed.
Nerburn hasn't received any donations from car dealers. He will send
requests to car related businesses.
LaCrosse requested the authority to proceed with getting liability
insurance. Cohen made a motion to take out liability insurance for the
1991 Earle Brown Days. Seconded by Pollack. Motion carried.
Bergeland presented the tabloid cover proposed by Jeff Engstrom the new
ad salesperson for Post News. She said the Post will give us a minimum
of two pages for events. The Post will give us 10% commission, which is
around $400. LaCrosse said she was sure the Post would do it with or
without our cooperation.
There was a motion by Neilson, seconded by Nerburn to accept their
proposal of 10%. Cohen said we should receive at least $400 and allow
chairperson Bergeland to negotiate a better deal and develop a system of
accountability.
The motion as revised is to accept the Post' s offer of $400 minimum from
advertising, to develop a system of accountability and to recommend that
the chairperson try to negotiate a higher percentage from them. Motion
carried.
Bergeland eland re o
g reported Walter Roach will no longer be a part of this
committee as he is no longer manager of the Post. Roach has requested
g q
a list of Earle Brown Days board members, their backgrounds and
qualifications.
There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Nyquist to decline Roach's
request. Motion carried.
Benson said she thought Nerburn' s idea of requesting donations from
small businesses is good. She gave Cohen a letter she drafted for this
purpose. Cohen said we also need people to make personal contacts.
PUBLICITY• LaCrosse highlighted the proposal made by the publicity
committee. It is broken into two categories, publicity for Earle Brown
Days in general and publicity for the craft show. Some money must also
be spent on photographs. A photographer has volunteered his time.
Earle Brown Days would need to pay for film and processing. LaCrosse
will et a cost
g proposal from him.
Bergeland presented information from KCW-AM country radio to advertise.
Cost is $160 for 12 - 30 second commercials. As the ro osed publicity
P P P Y

There was a motion by Nerburn seconded by Benson to approve the
publicity budget. Motion carried.
STREET DANCE: The committee listened to a tape of "Party Machine" .
They cost $1, 850 . Dorff suggested the street dance be changed to Barn
Dance. Neilson was told to proceed.
