Meeting Minutes
April 9 , 1991
City Hall
PRESENT: Bergeland, Dorff, Nerburn, Nyquist, Risley, Cohen, Roen,
Graffunder, LaCrosse, Sarah Pollock, and Walter Roach.
Bergeland explained that Walter Roach has been appointed by the
Brooklyn Center Chamber to serve as liaison to EBD. Roach reported
the Charitable Ball is postponed to September 6. One half of the
proceeds from the silent auction will go to EBD. Roach said he
will offer his assistance in asking Health one for a donation.
He also offered publicity ervices to be put in the Post and

Weekender. The advertising dept. will again do the tabloid. Cohen
• asked if the Post could financially sponsor an event. Roach said
they could only help through publicity.
Cohen said some businesses are reluctant to sponsor activities
after being solicited for tabloid ads. Cohen' s committee is
looking at taking proposals from the two newspapers.
Roach will send his proposal to Cohen and Bergeland.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Nyquist, seconded by
Nerburn to approve the minutes of March 12 . Motion passed.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Bergeland reported for Cummings a balance of
approximately $41. Risley presented the Lion' s check for the
parade and Cohen said Rotary will donate $500.
AMBASSADORS: Cohen, Dorff, Bergeland and Nyquist will meet April
16. Cohen made up a form with details about events and costs,
which will be given to potential sponsors. He anticipates some
events will have two or three sponsors.
PARADE: Risley reported eight bands to date. He said SOCM is
trying to put together a group of service men and women to March.
He said they may decorate route with yellow ribbons. The rest of
the parade letters will go out soon.
• CAR SHOW: Nerburn and the MSMA Club will distribute flyers at a
show at the fair grounds this month.
STREET DANCE: No report.
TALENT SHOW: No report
CRAFT FAIR: No report
JUNIOR ROYALTY: No report
PUBLICITY: Dorff, LaCrosse and Roxanna Benjamin from NW News will
meet to develop a proposal to submit at the next meeting.
OLD BUSINESS : Bergeland looked into the Minnesota Festivals and
Events Association. After reading their objectives, she reported
no real benefit to EBD. LaCrosse asked if asked if Charlie Cook
could report anything significant to EBD. Bergeland said she would
ask him. The consensus of the board was not to join.
NEW BUSINESS: LaCrosse said a square dance club called to ask if
they could put on a demonstration. They were put on the parade
mailing list. Bergeland said she told another group there wasn 't
an appropriate event for a square dance demo.
LaCrosse reported a sponsor for the Kids Fishing Contest. Arnie
Mavis contacted Tom Zenanko of Sportsman' s Press. They will
provide lots of prizes and Tom, who is a professional fisherperson,
will host. •
There was a motion by Dorff, seconded by Graffunder to adjourn.
Motion passed.
