The meeting was called to order at 7:45 a.m. BARN DANCE: Kragness reported that she has listened to two country/western groups. She said Bear Creek is the better of the two because they play old country as well as some new songs. Neilson thinks we are getting them at a good price, $1750, because they are very popular. CRAFT FAIR: Bergeland said the information has gone out to crafters and she has received one application and check back. The information is almost ready to send out to the food vendors. She also said we need to advertise for exhibitors in NorthWest News, the Post and the Star Tribune. Posters should also be put up in stores. Bergeland will try to get articles in NorthWest News and the Post. LaCrosse will take out a paid ad in the Star Tribune. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham asked if accounts have been set up with the list of vendors she turned in at the last meeting? Kragness said EBD does have arrangements at New Market and Bizmart to charge. Graham said they have an appointment at Proex to have their pictures taken. LaCrosse asked if she knew the cost. Graham said $21.95. LaCrosse suggested filling out a payment request form and she would get her a check before Sunday. KID'S FISHING CONTEST: Kragness asked if everything was set.LaCrosse said Arnie Mavis has talked to Tom Zenanko and he would like to do the fishing contest again. PARADE: Risley said things are looking good and there has been a lot of interest. It is the 75th anniversary for the Lions and they figure to have 15 - 20 Lions units. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse passed around the tabloid proposal from NorthWest News. She said Benjamin called to see if the EBD board is interested in designating it as the official tabloid. The board decided it would not designate either paper as the official EBD • tabloid. AMBASSADORS: Cohen said he will have a report next month. PICNIC/GAMES: Cohen reported he appeared before the Rotary Club and they will • sponsor the picnic/games event by designating their $500 contribution towards it. They will also provide the workers. The event will be held Saturday, June 27 from 2:30-5 p.m. in Central Park. TALENT CONTEST: Neilson said we should get notification out to the newspapers soon. He has the St. Paul Winter Carnival mailing list. LaCrosse will revise the rules and form and send them to him for approval. Neilson suggested the mailing go out April 15. BARN DANCE cont: Kragness said a children's band called Best Buddies is secured for 6:30 p.m. at a cost of $200. She recommends we also hire Bear Creek Band at a cost of $1750. The total cost for the barn dance would be $1950. The expenses are a little more than last year, but there is a bigger audience appeal. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Bergeland to approve these expenses for the barn dance. Motion carried. Kragness asked Neilson to draw up a contract for Bear Creek. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Kragness said Brookdale will host the ice cream social and does want the community band to perform. LaCrosse said she already has them confirmed. Graham said that Bridgeman's at Brookdale is closed. OLD BUSINESS: Neilson said Jack Flatley of the City County Credit Union is interested in joining the EBD committee. He will confirm with him at the next Rotary meeting. • LaCrosse said to let her know and she would place him on the mailing list. NEW BUSINESS: Kragness said we have three bills to approve for payment. $90 for 1991 parade hats to Screen Printing 21.95 for portrait sitting (junior royalty) to Proex Y n Center to City of Brooklyn 74.16 for postage Y There was a motion by Neilson, seconded by Roen to approve payment of these three bills. Motion carried. Neilson suggested the purchase of hats or t-shirts for committee members so they would be easily identified. Kragness said this discussion should b e tabled until the next meeting. Risley will bring in some samples and prices. There was a motion by Pollock, seconded by Graham to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
