LaCrosse discussed some of the problems that have surfaced over the week. Sgt. Roth
from the police department said the new property owners of Humboldt Square want a letter
from either the City or EBD releasing them of all injuries or mishaps during the teen bop
dance. Discussion centered around the possibility of carrying participant insurance for just
that event. LaCrosse said she did not know if that was a good idea. She suggested calling
Charlie Hansen of the finance department and inviting him to the meeting. The other
problem was the water ski show. LaCrosse said she has not received letters from the city
managers of Crystal or Robbinsdale yet, nor has she received the certificate of insurance
from the water ski show. Slupske said he would take care of it.

crafters.

from others. Ditty said no one offered anything yet. Graham said the junior royalty

for set up of the funny bike. Cohen made a motion, seconded by Dorff to approve the .
additional $10 subject to insurance coverage. Nelson said the rest of the items are pending

anyone knew of one, to send them her way. Kragness suggested contacting Builder's
Square.
TALENT CONTEST: LaCrosse said Neilson is out of town. She said there are only
16 entries. Last year there were 62 entries and the event lost $680. Yesterday was the

WATER SKI SHOW: Slupske said the water ski show is back on because they came
down considerably on the price. The original budget was $1200. He said he has a sponsor
of about $300-400. The water ski show was assuming about the same. He said the shuttle
bus service will be provided from the parking lots, like NorthWest Swim and Racquet. It
was suggested those parking in the lots walk to the site. Welch suggested using Brookdale
for parking and using a shuttle bus from there. Slupske will check into it. LaCrosse asked
if the committee wanted a letter to be distributed in advance to resident about what is
happening. Slupske said yes.
8:30 a.m. Swanson arrived.
PUBLICITY: LaCrosse told the committee she had been giving some thought to the
possibility of cancelling the Star Tribune ads in the future years because of all of the
negative publicity. She said between display and classified ads, EBD spends about $1,600.
Slupske said when he advertised in the Star, he didn't see much benefit. It was the °
p ,
consensus of the committee to cancel the ads for this year. LaCrosse will talk to Mike
Maslow from the Post and see what kinds of ads could be placed in local papers.
Swanson said she is collecting items from the promotional campaign and EBD to send to a
public relations group. The items will be on loan and used as a display for a conference.
She would like a T-shirt and anything else from EBD including pictures.
PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN: The Bingo card will be in Wednesday's paper.
They will announce the winners at Sunday In Central Park. They are distributing flyers on
the walk/run. She is sending it to the Outdoor sectio n of the Star because it is free. They
have T-shirts for the fun run/walk, stickers, bumper stickers and window decals.
Charlie Hansen arrived at 8:45 a.m.
Nelson explained to Hansen what was happening in regards to the new property owner at
Humboldt Square. Hansen suggested putting the property owner as additional insured but
did not know if that would satisfy them. He was concerned about giving a blanket waiver.
LaCrosse will give him the information regarding the teen bop dance and he will call the
insurance company. LaCrosse will leave a message for Sgt. Roth so he can check with the
property owner to see if that will be okay.
