Meeting Minutes
June 7, 1994
PRESENT: Kragness, Bergeland, Neilson, Pollock, Ditty, Holcomb, Dorff and
LaCrosse.
The meeting was called to order at 7:38 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion b Neilson, seconded b Ditty to

approve the minutes of May 24, 1994. Motion carried.
AMBASSADORS: LaCrosse reported $4,760 in donations so far.
ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Bergeland said she had a request from a crafter for a
refund. Bergeland said she has been in the show in the past and has indicated an
interest in being in it next year. There was a motion by Ditty,, seconded b Pollock to

issue her a refund. Motion carried.
• There are 70 crafters and 5 food vendors. A Latin American band has offered 1
to play
for free in return for selling their tapes. They will play both days. Wendy, Bingo the
clown and McGruff will also entertain. They are still working on getting a face painter.
Neilson will check with some of his contacts.
Bergeland still has people calling fora applications. She said there may be some

complaints this year because people will not get as large of space as in the past. This is
due to more crafters. They will still get at least 10 by 10 which is what is advertised.
She should have enough volunteers.
BARN DANCE: Kragness needs to order the goodies. She does have
chamber volunteer t-
shirts.Kragness will use the volunteer t shirts. She would also like to give
out a certificate of appreciation to volunteers. Arts & Crafts Fair committee would also
like to give them out. Everything else is set. LaCrosse will check with Arnie Mavis to
see if they can use the hot dog machine.
Graham arrived at 7:53 a.m.
BINGO: Flyers are done and Ditty will be the caller.

CAR SHOW: No report.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: No report.

JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham said there are 17 candidates. Their first parade is
this Thursday at Spring Lake Park. They have also added Champlin and Fridley
parades. They will make an appearance at Children's Hospital and the official judging
begins Tuesday. There was no donation for the judging dinner. It will be held at
Bridgeman's. Graham would like to consider purchasing the EBD t-shirts for the judges
to identify them to parents and children.
Cohen arrived at 8:05 a.m.
Ditty said the polo shirt would cost $12 and the cap $3.75 if anyone wants to order. He
said he is negotiating with Doug at BCHS for coronation. It will now cost an additional
$80 for a sound person.
FISHING CONTEST: He is ready.
AMBASSADORS: Cohen asked what the additional expenses were. Ditty said
about $500 for the teen bop dance. LaCrosse said the parade committee would be
spending the whole $7,500. It is not indicated on the budget sheet because Risley didn't
know how much the radios would cost or what some of their other expenses will be. •
PARADE: There are 83 units.
PICNIC/GAMES: Dorff has 22 business contributions. K-Mart requested fire and/or
police cars to have in the parking lot sometime during EBD. LaCrosse contacted the
police and fire departments and they are working on it.
Cummings arrived at 8:25 a.m.
PUBLICITY: LaCrosse passed around a copy of the ad going in the Osseo/Maple
Grove Press and said the one going in the Anoka Shopper will look similar. She also
said she is working on the ads for the Star Tribune and is running the ad in the festival
column two weeks because the cost of ads went down at Osseo/Maple Grove Press.
Also the festival column appears in all papers, not just the north zone. She also asked
committee members to take posters to display at work or at businesses in Brooklyn
Center.
She said the cable ad will start next week. They want to tape footage this year to have a
better ad next year. She asked what events the committee would like to have taped
keeping in mind they will only tape 3 to 4 events. The committee decided to see if the
craft show, barn dance, picnic/games and car show could be taped. Alternate events

would be the parade and fireworks.
Swanson arrived at 8:32 a.m.
She said the committee needs to decide on a price for the t-shirts. There was a motion
by Ditty, seconded by Bergeland to charge $8 for the shirts. Motion carried.
Swanson said City Watch will go out one week before EBD and will have the schedule in
it.
SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK: No report.
TALENT CONTEST: Neilson said there are 49 contestants. Next year he would
like to call the dance studios to find out when the recitals are because he thinks we
could pick up more entries by working around those dates.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT: No report.
NEW BUSINESS: Cummings said she has three checks that have/never cleared
and they are all parade checks. They are check #1023 payable to Zuhrah Patrol for
$200, check #1035 payable for prize money for $200, and check #1037 payable for prize
money for $100. Ditty will check with isley about the checks.

There was a motion by Dorff, seconded by Ditty to approve payment of these bills.
