Meeting Minutes
January 11, 1994
PRESENT: Kragness, Ditty, Neilson, Risley, Bergeland and LaCrosse.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Balance of $9,289.12 as of 1/11/93
Kragness read the letter about the Brooklyn Center Community Prayer Breakfast. There
was a request for sponsors. The committee decided to decline this year.
LaCrosse said we received a bill from the Minnesota Festival and Events Association for
renewal of membership. We joined at the end of last year. Kragness will call and see if
we have to pay again.
. ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Bergeland said she has a listing of all crafters and her
secretary created a grid to see who has participated each year. From this, she hopes to
eliminate some names from the mailing list. An ad was placed in the Arts & Crafts
Directory. Last year we received one third of the new booths from the directory. Cost
was $170. Bergeland will need volunteers. 6
BARN DANCE: Neilson will check to see if Killer Hayseeds is available.
BINGO: LaCrosse said we need to know soon whether Bingo will be offered. If we
don't get a group to run it, we will offer Mini-500. Ditty will check with the swim club.
CAR SHOW: LaCrosse said Nerburn called and wanted to know when the
committee would decide on the indoor use of the Heritage Center. Ditty will check with
Brooklyn Center High School to see if the junior royalty coronation can be held in the
auditorium.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: No report.
JUNIOR ROYALTY: No report.
KID'S FISHING CONTEST: LaCrosse said Tom Zenanko has moved out of the
area. She asked if the committee wanted the Ambassadors to look into a new sponsor
• or if the committee wanted to buy the prizes out of the EBD money. Ditty and
Bergeland will check with people they know for possible contributions or sponsorship.
PARADE: Risley said Bobby Jackson will be invited to be the grand marshal. He is a
graduate of Brooklyn Center High School and a part time comedian.
PICNIC/GAMES: No report.
PUBLICITY: LaCrosse said Terri Swanson will help with publicity. Kragness
asked if she could come to a meeting. LaCrosse said she will invite her. Publicity
should begin in February.
SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK: No report.
TALENT CONTEST: LaCrosse said dates need to be selected if Constitution Hall
is to be used. The dates of June 13, 15, & 16 were tentatively setup.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT: No report.
OLD BUSINESS: LaCrosse asked if the committee was still interested in
purchasing a Print Shop software to make certificates. There was a motion by Risley,
seconded by Bergeland to buy the software with cost not to exceed $50. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS: There was a motion by Neilson, seconded by Ditty to approve
payment to City of Brooklyn Center for $12.18 for postage. Motion carried.
Bergeland asked if she could spend some of the money made from the arts & crafts fair •
to bring in entertainment groups. She said it is what the crafters have suggested on their
evaluation forms. They said it would draw in people. LaCrosse said you would need to
have some visible names for the entertainment to draw people to the craft fair. Risley
suggested the Aqua Jesters who are now sponsored by the Crystal Lions Club. Risley
will contact the Crystal Lions Club for fees and availability. The committee said
Bergeland should check into costs. The fee for the booth space will be raised to $49.50
for 1994. The fee has never been increased.
ADJOURN: The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 a.m.
