Meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse prepared a publicity proposal. She said the prices have gone up slightly from last year. An additional paper which could be used to advertise the craft fair is the New Richmond News. They do not have a daily paper and the people rely on the shopper's guide for advertising. One of the things that could be deleted is the festival banner ad in the Star Tribune. LaCrosse said she didn't know how many people actually saw that. The committee is asked to study the proposal and come prepared at the next meeting to discuss it and make suggestions. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of March 9 were approved. • ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Bergeland reported she has received 29 crafters and 4 food vendors so far. The total is 33 compared to a total of 14 at this time last year. Last year the mini donut vendor asked if he could supply donuts to the crafters. His charge would be 50C per crafter. Bergeland said he did not apply this year. She has received a new mini donut vendor who is willing to do this but he wants $1 per person. Bergeland said she can do this much cheaper buying donuts at Jerry's. Bergeland said she will need help, especially next year. She has another commitment during Earle Brown Days next year and will not be at the craft fair. Kragness said she has some names that she would give her. BARN DANCE: Kragness said everything is set. She asked Neilson if he had the pictures needed for the posters. He said he has the publicity information at the office. Kragness was thinking of calling K102, a country station, to see if they might send someone free of charge to the dance. ICE CREAM SOCIAL Kragness said Brookdale was going to send someone to last month's board meeting. She asked LaCrosse if she had heard from anyone. LaCrosse said no. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham asked LaCrosse if the application could be revised this week. LaCrosse said yes. Graham reported the children visited Children's • Hospital last week. She said everything is moving along. FISHING CONTEST: LaCrosse said she has not heard from Tom Zenanko yet. She hopes he will be able to get us prizes. • PARADE: Risley said entries are coming in like normal. Everyone is asking for more money but he sets a limit. He has told the groups that we only have so much money. Roen arrived at 7:59 a.m. TALENT CONTEST: Neilson said that he talked to Colleen from the St. Paul Winter Carnival. They didn't have a talent contest last year but she will mail us their labels from 1991. He suggests getting information to local papers around May 1. PAYMENT OF BILLS: Mpls Aquatennial Junior Royalty participation fee $150 American Speedy Print Envelopes and letterhead 281.27 City of Brooklyn Center Postage 274.25 There was a motion by Nyquist, seconded by Risley to pay these bills. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: LaCrosse said she had a request from Jane Hallberg of the Historical Society to have a Brooklyn Center Hall of Fame Dedication at City Hall on the Sunday of Earle Brown Days. They would have a picture unveiling of past recipients, refreshments and videos. LaCrosse said she has worked this out with City • Hall and said this would be an additional event unless someone has an objection to it. There were none. Kragness said she just attended the festival conference and the keynote speakers and concurrent sessions were very good. She said the only problem was not being able to attend two concurrent sessions at the same time. She said she would like to see at least one more person from the committee attend. The cost for an organization to join is $25 and the cost of the conference was $55 including meals. Next year's conference will be held in Brooklyn Park. Risley said if we're going to keep doing this, we should go to the conference. Kragness said she would bring the information to the next meeting. Starting with the May 11 meeting, committee chairs will give their reports in the order they arrive at the meeting. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 a.m. Respectfully Submitted, Sue LaCrosse City Liaison •
