Meeting Minutes
March 9, 1993
PRESENT: Kragness, Bergeland, Nyquist, Risley, Cohen, and LaCrosse.
Meeting was called to order at 7:41 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of February 9 were approved.
AMBASSADORS: Cohen said he will use the same format as last year. He
asked LaCrosse for an updated vendor list. He said Nick Eoloff will help. They will
spend time on the big hitters. He added that Pat Milton sent him some ideas for
soliciting. Kragness suggested the bank be the sole sponsor of the dance. Someone
needs to talk to Frank at the bank.
• ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Bergeland said the mailing has gone out. There are 15
paid crafters and 3 paid food vendors. She thinks the ad in the arts & crafts magazine
helped. She hopes the show will be bigger and better than last year.
Neilson arrived at 7:47 a.m.
PARADE: Risley said he has received several inquiries and asked LaCrosse when
the mailing went out. LaCrosse said she did not receive anything in the mail from him.
Risley said he sent it out two weeks ago. LaCrosse said she could probably get a
mailing out either by the end of the week or early next week. Risley said they should
always go out March 1. Risley said Luther and Carruthers will not receive invitations
because they will not abide by the no distribution of literature rule. Cohen will contact
them and have them call Risley directly.
The route will stay the same as last year but the judges stand will be moved over the
bridge. This will be done for two reasons. First, there have been problems in the past
with fire trucks leaving during the competition. Second, once you get to the other
side, there are large gaps in the parade due to judging. Restroom needs are the
same.
TALENT CONTEST: The list of rules have been revised. Neilson said it is too
early to send out applications. They should be sent out around May 1.
•
BARN DANCE: Kragness said they have the band Killer Hayseeds lined up for the
dance. The instructor from the parks and recreation department will give line dancing
instruction. She asked Neilson for more pictures of the band so they could make
posters and put them around.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT: LaCrosse said someone from the Brooklyn Center
Tennis Club stopped by and expressed concerned that the tournament was not
receiving much publicity. LaCrosse said she told her the tournament was on the
schedule of activities and only the parade, barn dance, arts & crafts fair and car show
got extra publicity. LaCrosse said she told her to send a tennis club representative to
the monthly board meetings. LaCrosse sends her the meeting notices and to date no
one has attended.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Kragness said the ice cream social will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 8:01 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sue LaCrosse
