RESOLUTION NO. 2014-112
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF MARK
HARTFIEL FOR OVER 32 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
BROOKLYN CENTER
WHEREAS,Mark Hartfiel has been an employee of the City of Brooklyn Center since
June 1, 1982, and will retire August 14, 2014, after more than 32 years of dedicated public service
to the City of Brooklyn Center and its citizens; and
WHEREAS,Mark Hartfiel has consistently provided the City of Brooklyn Center and its
residents with dedicated public service during his tenure working in the capacities of Public
Works Utilities Supervisor and Maintenance II Worker within the Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS,Mark Hartfiel was instrumental in the administration and management of
numerous public works functions,programs and projects including: managing the Utility Division;
completing two upgrades of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for
the City's utility infrastructure; establishing water use regulations in response to the 1988 drought
by developing the Emergency and Water Conservation Plan, spearheading the Automatic Meter
Reading project and monitoring the project from conception to completion; managing the leases
for cellular antennas on City water towers; instrumental in developing the Water Utility Energy
Conservation Program, and Wellhead Protection and Vulnerability Program; as well as many other
functions of the Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center wishes to recognize the
professionalism with which Mark Hartfiel has discharged his duties and made a positive impact on
the community of Brooklyn Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota, upon the recommendation of the City Manager, that the dedicated public
service of Mark Hartfiel is hereby recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Center.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Lin Myszkowski
and upon vote being taken thereon,the following voted in favor thereof:
Tim Willson, Carol Kleven, Kris Lawrence-Anderson, Lin Myszkowski, and Dan Ryan;
and the following voted against the same: none;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
