HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014 09-22 CCM Study Session MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA STUDY SESSION SEPTEMBER 22, 2014 CITY HALL—COUNCIL CHAMBERS CALL TO ORDER The Brooklyn Center City Council met in Study Session called to order by Mayor Tim Willson at 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Mayor Tim Willson and Councilmembers Kris Lawrence-Anderson, Lin Myszkowski, and Dan Ryan. Councilmember Carol Kleven was absent and excused. Also present were City Manager Curt Boganey, Public Works Director/City Engineer Steve Lillehaug, Assistant City Manager/Director of Building and Community Standards Vickie Schleuning, and Mary Mullen, TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc. CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS AND QUESTIONS Councilmember Lawrence-Anderson asked, with regard to Regular Session Agenda Item 6c, whether the proposed water treatment plant design will incorporate any of the sustainability measures discussed by the City Council City Manager Curt Boganey stated the project is designed with the capability of adding solar power in the future. He added, however, the building's current design does not include any of the possible features discussed by the City Council. Councilmember Myszkowski requested clarification regarding Regular Session Agenda Item 6d, related to BC Liquor's location during the Surly Brewing Co. Darkness Day event on October 25, 2014. Mr. Boganey stated BC Liquor will occupy space at Cass'Screw Machine Products, near the Surly Brewing Co. facility, during the Darkness Day event. Councilmember Ryan requested clarification with regard to EDA Agenda Item 4a, environmental clean up of the Howe Fertilizer site. He added this has been an ongoing issue with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Mr. Boganey stated an agreement has been reached and final clean up and commencement of construction is expected in fall 2014. Mayor Willson requested that City staff provide a schedule timeline for the Howe Fertilizer site environmental clean up for the City Council's review. Mr. Boganey agreed. 09/22/14 -1- MISCELLANEOUS There were no items to discuss. DISCUSSION OF WORK SESSION AGENDA ITEMS AS TIME PERMITS There were no items to discuss. That said meeting was held pursuant to due call and notice thereof and was duly held at Brooklyn Center City Hall. 3.
