HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-029 CCRMember Mark Yelich introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2008-29 RESOLUTION AMENDING CITY COUNCIL CODE OF POLICIES SECTION 2.30: POLICY FOR PUBLIC UTILITY ACCOUNT COLLECTIONS WHEREAS, in cases where water service is shut off at the curb stop for a residential property, the existing City Council Code of Policies indicates that quarterly utility rates will not be charged for water, sanitary sewer, or recycling when water is shut off; and WHEREAS, the City Utility Funds continue to incur costs for providing access to these utility services even when water is shut off at the curb stop; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a basic charge for access to utility services be charged while services are available to a property by virtue of being connected to the City's water and sanitary sewer systems; and WHEREAS, the sanitary sewer system rates should be amended to provide for a rate reflecting payment of the basic cost of being connected to the City's collection system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that Section 2.3 0, Subdivision 5.D.1 be amended to read as follows: The property owner must complete and sign a City form requesting and authorizing the shut-off or provide an equivalent written request. Billing for water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, street light service district, and recycling program will continue; a. at the minimum rates designated in the City's utility rate schedule while the water is shut off for a period of one month or more; or b. at the regularly scheduled rates when water is shut off for less than one month. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 2007-141, Resolution Adopting 2008 Sewer Utility Rates, Fees and Charges, be amended to include a Residential Water Shut Off Rate of $9.40 per quarter when water is shut off at the curb stop for at least one month.
