November 18, 2014
COUNCIL COMMISSION ROOM
CALL TO ORDER
The Brooklyn Center Mousing Commission was called to order by Chairperson Marko at 7:00 p.m.

Ephraim Olani—Not present
Also present: Staff Liaison Jesse Anderson.
APPROVAL OFAGENDA
There was a motion by Commissioner Amdahl to approve the agenda as submitted.The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Johnson. The motion passed.
APPROVAL OFMINUTES
There was a motion by Commissioner Johnson to approve the minutes of the Housing Commission
meeting on October 21, 2014. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Amdahl. The motion
passed.
CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
Chairperson Marko provided an update about the New Neighbor Program in 2014. See attached
chart. 130 packets were delivered; 62%were in person.
Chairperson Marko stated that he is willing to go out and deliver packets on some Saturdays during
the winter. A request was made from a tenant at an apartment and Chairperson Marko delivered a
packet.
Chairperson Marko asked if there was an update on the rental recognition program.
Staff Liaison Anderson stated that Vickie Schleuning will likely report back the results of the study
at a later meeting date.
Commissioner Johnson suggested we advertise to property owners that they can get a new neighbor
packet for tenants if they request it.

Staff Liaison Anderson suggested that the information be put in the ARM newsletter.
Commissioner Johnson stated that he appreciates the improvements on Brooklyn Blvd. with the
demolishing of 6301 Brooklyn Blvd. This is important because Brooklyn Blvd. is like Brooklyn
Center's front door. Some homes are well kept on Brooklyn Blvd.; however some should be
purchased and torn down eventually.
COUNCIL LL4ISONREPORT
There was no report.
REAPPOINTMENT
Chairperson Marko recommended the reappointment of all members.
The Chairperson and Vice Chair positions were discussed and it was decided they would wait until
the January 2015 meeting to have nominations.
OTHER BUSINESS
It was determined by the Housing Commission that no meeting would be held on December 16,
2014.
Commissioner Johnson suggested that the Housing Commission have a planning meeting for 2015 to
set objectives.
Commissioner Amdahl suggested this should be done during the January 2015 meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Commissioner Goodell to adjourn the meeting.The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Amdahl. The motion passed.The Brooklyn Center Housing Commission adjourned
at 8:15 p.m.
