Reminder July Housing Commission Meeting is be replaced with a
night to deliver New Neighbor Packets.

The Housing Commission will hold a brief meeting. The remaining
time will be used to assemble packets for the New Neighbor Program.

COUNCIL COMMISSION ROOM
CALL TO ORDER
The Brooklyn Center Housing Commission was called to order by Chairperson Goodell at 7:00
p.m.

Also present was Staff Liaison Jesse Anderson.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
There was a motion by Commissioner Johnson and seconded by Commissioner Amdahl to
approve the agenda as submitted. The motion passed.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Commissioner Amdahl and seconded by Commissioner Johnson to
approve the minutes of the Housing Commission meeting on 04/19/2016. The motion passed.
COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT
In the absence of the Council Liaison no report was given.
CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
Chairperson Goodell reported:
Chairperson Goodell reported on a conversation with Council Member Lawrance-Anderson.
Council Member Lawrance-Anderson had suggested that the Housing Commission ask for more
information about Brooklyn Park’s program and the preparation and overview of the changes to the
City Council.
Chairperson Goodell suggested that we begin establishing a guideline and that it should focus on
fairness.
Chairperson Goodell discussed Discover Church requesting to help if they can contribute to the bag.
The Housing Commission agreed that they would tell them that they can help with bags. However,

nothing can be added to the bags or passed out.
Chairperson Goodell asked how the Housing Commission should continue to pursue items for next
year and what are some questions for Brooklyn Park?
Commissioner Johnson: How do they deliver?
Commissioner Tamika: Questions or concerns participating businesses had.
Commissioner Amdahl: What staff time is included to prepare.
Commissioner Tamika: Do they allow for religious organizations?
Commissioner Goodell: Why do they have that policy of free items?
Commissioner Johnson: What rules are there for businesses that are not in their City?
Commissioner Johnson asked how many new neighbors were on this year’s list?
Staff Liaison Anderson stated that the list has 226 properties.
The Housing Commission discussed delivery dates and decided on June 14, 2016, June 30, 2016,
July 7, 2016, and July 19, 2016 instead of a commission meeting, and August 4, 2016.
OTHER BUSINESS
There was no other business addressed by the Commission.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Commissioner Amdahl and seconded by Commissioner Baskins to
adjourn the meeting. The motion passed. The Brooklyn Center Housing Commission adjourned
at 8:00 p.m.
