HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-113 CCRMember Lin Myszkowski introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2016-113 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE STATE OF MINNESOTA JOINT POWERS AGREEMENTS WITH THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER ON BEHALF OF ITS POLICE DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE MINNESOTA INTERNET CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN TASK FORCE ("ICAC") WHEREAS, it has been proposed that the City on behalf of its Police Department desires to enter into Joint Powers Agreements with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to utilize applicable state and federal laws to investigate and prosecute crimes committed against children and the criminal exploitation on children that is committed and/or facilitated by or through the use of computers; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force officers collaborate with and obtain information from other agencies to improve the safety of the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force officers can extend the range of intelligence to better prevent internet related crime against children; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the City Manager and Police Chief, are designated as the Authorized Representatives of the Police Department be and hereby are authorized to accept and implement the proposed Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Joint Powers Agreement. The Authorized Representatives are also authorized to sign any subsequent amendment or agreement that may be required by the State of Minnesota to maintain the City's connection to the systems and tools offered by the State. July 25. 2016 Date Mayor ATTEST: IiAnn________________ City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Dan Ryan and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Tim Willson, April Graves, Kris Lawrence-Anderson, Lin Myszkowski, Dan Ryan and the following voted against the same: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
