Meeting Minutes
May 20, 2014
PRESENT
Phil Marbut, Judy Marbut, Cathy Ballot, Tom Shinnick, Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson, Lin
Myszkowski, Myrna Kauth, Bob Dillon and Sue LaCrosse.
Cathy Ballot called the meeting to order at 4:37 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Lin Myszkowski to approve the minutes of April 15,
2014. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $18,940.59. There was a motion by Myrna Kauth,
seconded by Phil Marbut to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget spreadsheet. Expense adjustments were made to
the parade and family fun & games.
Parade:
Phil Marbut reported he has a meeting with police and fire to go over the emergency plan. He
ordered the trophies. Phil Marbut reviewed the maps for the bands. Mike Meyer and Bob Dillon will be
in charge of the awards ceremony. Grand Marshal is Earl Simons.
Craft & Business Expo:
There are 14 exhibitors including food vendors.
Kids’ Craft Area:
No report.
Kids’ Planting Activity:
No report.
Face Painting:
No report.
Family Fun & Games:
Cathy Ballot showed the committee the medallions. She needs prizes.
Fire Truck:
No report
Golf Tournament:
No report.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
No report.
Music/Fireworks:
No report.
Petting Zoo:
No report.
Publicity:
The committee approved the Star Tribune ad with a request to change the face painting
picture. A small flyer for EBD will go out to residents in cycle 2 of the water bills. Phil Marbut, Cathy

Ballot and John Krause will be interviewed for the Northwest Community Television segment. The Sun
Post is making a supplement. Sue LaCrosse sent the editor the schedule of events, golf tournament, and
financial sponsors. It was suggested we send them a listing of the parade entries and information about
the grand marshal. Flyers with the schedule of activities are available to distribute.
OLD BUSINESS:
None
NEW BUSINESS:
Sue LaCrosse said she had a request from a Boy Scout troop to have a table at the
Craft & Business Expo. It was approved to let them be the nonprofit group this year.
Cathy Ballot reported she will be making a deposit of $510 which includes a $100 from the Women’s
Club.
NEXT MEETING:Room 221
Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 4:30 p.m., at Community Center. She said
we will be meeting weekly in June.
