Meeting Minutes
September 16, 2014
PRESENT
Cathy Ballot, Lin Myszkowski, Tom Shinnick, Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson, and Sue
LaCrosse.
Cathy Ballot called the meeting to order at 4:35 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Lin Myszkowski, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of June 24,
2014. Motion carried.
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Lin Myszkowski to appoint Tom Shinnick to a two
year term as a board member. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $12,915.84. There is an outstanding check for $300 to
Mankato. She emailed Phil Marbut to ask him to follow up with the band director. There was a motion
by Tom Shinnick, seconded by Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson to approve the treasurer’s
report. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
Cathy Ballot said the checkbook and the spreadsheet balance.
Parade:
Tom Shinnick will get someone to chair the parade committee. Sandy Palmer and Sue
Arneson were suggested to be co-chairs.
Craft & Business Expo:
Lin Myszkowski said she thought the flow was better with the way things
were set up. She said the wind was a factor. Cathy Ballot said it looked like most exhibitors were
selling.
Kids’ Craft Area:
Sue LaCrosse said it went well.
Face Painting:
This was again very popular. Sue LaCrosse will look into the option of adding more
time for next year.
Family Fun & Games:
Cathy Ballot said they liked the medallions. She has already started buying
prizes for next year. She has some left over because they had to end suddenly when it started to rain.
She will check with Rotary members to make sure they have enough help next year. Tom Shinnick said
he might be able to get a few Lions members to help.
Fire Truck:
Sue LaCrosse said it worked well in the spot they had this year.
Golf Tournament:
Cathy Ballot said there were bigger prizes this year.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse said only one fish was caught. The rest of the prizes were given

out as door prizes.
Music/Fireworks:
Since these were canceled, the money will be used for 2015. Sue LaCrosse will
contact the fireworks company and the Capri Big Band to schedule for next year.
Petting Zoo:
Cathy Ballot will contact them to reserve the date for next year.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said we had good crowds this year. Maybe the Star Tribune ad helped. We
did not put out the signs, which did not seem to hurt us. Lin Myszkowski said she wished there was a
way to ask people how they heard about it. Cathy Ballot said we used to ask the people when they
signed up for Family Fun & Games. But it took too long to get everyone signed in.
OLD BUSINESS:
None
NEW BUSINESS:
2015 dates are Thursday, June 25-27.
Lin Myszkowski said the Strudel vendor told her he would like to join the committee. Sue LaCrosse
will contact him.
Approval of Renewal of Board Members:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Tom
Shinnick to approve board renewals for Lin Myszkowski for two years, Myrna Kauth, John Krause and
Sue LaCrosse for one year. Motion carried.
Approval of 2015 Officers:
There was a motion by Lin Myszkowski, seconded by Councilmember
Kris Lawrence-Anderson to approve Tom Shinnick as president, Cathy Ballot as treasurer and Sue
LaCrosse as secretary for 2014-2015. Motion carried.
