HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015 05-19 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes May 19, 2015 PRESENT Tom Shinnick, Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson, Cathy Ballot, Bob Dillon, Lin Myszkowski, Myrna Kauth. Mike Kolden and Sue LaCrosse. Tom Shinnick called the meeting to order at 4:31 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Bob Dillon to approve the minutes of April 21, 2015. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $22,901.62. There was a motion by Bob Dillon, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS Budget/Finance: Sue LaCrosse reviewed the working financial spreadsheet. There is only a small deposit today consisting of three craft & business exhibitors and three paid parade units. She said we will be short in our reserve for next year. Craft & Business Expo: Lin Myszkowski reported there are 17 exhibitors. Kids’ Craft Area: All set. Face Painting: All set. Family Fun & Games: Cathy Ballot purchased the water balloons. She still needs prizes. The medallions are ordered and will cost less than last year. Fire Truck: All set. Golf Tournament: No report. Kids’ Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse reported that Jordan from the police department will have explorers to assist with the contest. Music/Fireworks: Sue LaCrosse reported we have a contract with the fireworks company and an email confirmation from the Capri Big Band. Parade: Bob Dillon reported he has ordered the trophies and has changed the cylinder color to maroon. He received a call from someone who wanted to be a parade vendor. When he explained where he could sell, he hung up. Bob Dillon said Chris Johnson from Luther Chevrolet can supply three cars. One would be for the EBD chair, one for Dunkin the Dolphin and one for the grand marshal. Bob Dillon said the grand marshal is Police Chief Kevin Benner and he may have access to his own car. Tom Shinnick may have to drive the antique fire truck. He said the chairman signs could go on the sides of the truck. 1 He will try to find someone else to drive the truck. Bob Dillon is looking for the signs and the banners. Sue LaCrosse said she has the signs for the cars, but does not have the banners. Bob Dillon will keep looking and Sue LaCrosse will get a quote from FastSigns for new banners. Sue LaCrosse said she emailed the Brooklyn Park Drumline to let them know we do not have $300 to pay them. They did not email back. Petting Zoo: All set. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse asked for feedback on the Star Tribune ad. There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Lin Myszkowski to approve the ad with the corrections. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS: None. Recycling: Jill Dalton said she will try to find a way to get a little more structure of the containers. She is looking at four stations. She asked if there would be a nonprofit group this year. The Boy Scouts will have a space. Sue LaCrosse will contact them to see if they are interested in helping with the recycling.
