HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015 09-22 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes September 22, 2015 PRESENT Tom Shinnick, Bob Dillon, Lin Myszkowski, Cathy Ballot, Myrna Kauth and Sue LaCrosse. Tom Shinnick called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the minutes of June 23, 2015. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $11,728.10. Cathy Ballot said there are three outstanding checks for the marching bands. Sue LaCrosse will send an email to the band directors. The following payments were requested. $2,061.85 City of Brooklyn Center Star Tribune ad and Kids’ Fishing Contest prizes 460.60 City of Brooklyn Center Postage There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Lin Myszkowski to approve treasurer’s report and approve payment of bills. Motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS Budget/Finance: Balance for next year is $9,205.65. Craft & Business Expo: Lin Myszkowski said it went well. Vendors didn’t see as many people. Tom Shinnick said they sold more than they have in a long time. Kids’ Craft Area: Sue LaCrosse said there were a lot of crafts leftover this year. The year before, we ran out. Face Painting: This event was well attended. Family Fun & Games: Cathy Ballot said it went well but they were down in numbers. Fire Truck: Went well. Golf Tournament: No report. Kids’ Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse said she doesn’t know if it is worth running. The number of participants is down and they don’t catch many fish. Music/Fireworks: No report. Parade: Bob Dillon said the Lions Club will sponsor again next year and he will chair. Petting Zoo: Cathy Ballot reported the person with the petting zoo is retiring. 1 Publicity: Sue LaCrosse said she is not satisfied with the answer the Star Tribune gave for delivering the ad to Fridley residents. The committee decided not to advertise with them next year. OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: The committee discussed how we might attract more people to be committee members and to attend the festival. Sue LaCrosse asked if it is possible to plan a festival with five people. The committee said no. It was suggested we put something in the Sun Post. Lin Myszkowski said she would post something to Facebook. Sue LaCrosse said we typically don’t meet until January. But because we are considering making some changes to the festival, she suggested we meet in October. At the October meeting the committee will brainstorm on those event that work well and look at possible changes.
