Meeting Minutes
February 17, 2015
PRESENT
Tom Shinnick, Cathy Ballot, Bob Dillon, Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson, and Sue LaCrosse.
Tom Shinnick called the meeting to order at 4:37 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Bob Dillon to approve the minutes of January 20,
2015. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $12,466.38. She sent a deposit check for $450.00 to
Walton’s Hollow for the petting zoo. There was a motion by Tom Shinnick, seconded by
Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Finance:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the working financial spreadsheet. She said Minneapolis
Northwest is donating $3,500 this year for publicity and there is a verbal commitment of $330 from the
BCBA to sponsor face painting.
Craft & Business Expo:
Sue LaCrosse said Lin Myszkowski would like to keep the application form
and flyer the same for this year.
Kids’ Craft Area:
Sue LaCrosse suggested a fabric canvas puppet. The children can use fabric
markers to decorate it.
Face Painting:
All set.
Family Fun & Games:
Cathy Ballot said she is considering having fewer, but nicer door prize items,
especially for adults. Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson suggested gift cards. The committee
would like to continue with the medals for the game prizes.
Fire Truck:
Sue LaCrosse said this is set.
Golf Tournament:
Sue LaCrosse said Steve Makowske may be out of town for the tournament, but he
will have everything set before he goes.
Kids’ Fishing Contest:
No report.
Music/Fireworks:
This is set.
Parade:
Bob Dillon reported we have five bands coming back. He will contact Blaine again to see if
they are planning to attend. If they are not, we have a waiting list to draw from. Sue LaCrosse said we
have three entry forms turned in. They got the form from the website. She will send out the mailing in
March.

Petting Zoo:
Cathy Ballot said the time will be the same as last year.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse asked the committee if they wanted to have the Star Tribune inserts again. If
we add zip code 55445, we would reach more households and our price per piece goes down. It would
add about $20 to the total cost, but we would reach a few thousand more. The committee would like to
have the insert again and would like to add zip code 55445. Sue LaCrosse said the schedule of events
will go out in all cycles of the water bills. She asked the committee to think about other ways we could
promote. The money from Minneapolis Northwest needs to be spent on publicity.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson suggested looking into having a prescription drop off. Sue
LaCrosse said she will get more information from Vickie Schleuning.
Sue LaCrosse reported Three Rivers Park District would like to have a program, maybe an exhibit of
snakes and skulls. They would put up a tent and display literature too.
