HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016 09-20 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes September 20, 2016 PRESENT Tom Shinnick, Sharon Kephart, Angie Crouch, Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson, Kelly Mertes and Sue LaCrosse. Tom Shinnick called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Sharon Kephart to approve the minutes of June 21, 2016. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $7,540.71. Cathy Ballot said there is one outstanding check for $125.00. Sue LaCrosse said she requested a budget increase for the 2017 Earle Brown Days Festival. The City’s budget will not be approved until December. APPROVAL OF 2017 BOARD MEMBERS There was a motion by Sharon Kephart, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the 2017 board members which include Tom Shinnick, Cathy Ballot, Angie Crouch, Steve Makowski, and Sharon Kephart for a one year term to expire September 30, 2017. Motion carried. Approval of 2017 officers : There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson to approve the 2017 officers as Chairperson - Tom Shinnick, Vice-Chairperson - Sharon Kephart, Treasurer - Cathy Ballot, with Secretary to be filled at a later date. Motion carried. REVIEW OF 2016 FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES: Sharon Kephart said Bingo started slow but turned out to be well attended. She recommends putting out some signs. She said she thought the Family Fun & Games event went well. Angie Crouch said everything was so fun. Her favorite event was the Family Fun & Games. The Kidsdance had a slow start but they got people to come in. The horse-drawn trolley rides were great. Cathy Ballot said there were less people for Family Fun & Games this year. She said she is going to work on getting bigger but fewer prizes for next year. Sue LaCrosse said the ice cream social was a great addition. She said some moms did not us putting a mark on the hands. Sue suggested maybe trying a stamp instead. The face painting was the right amount of time and the right number of face painters. It was really nice of the petting zoo to give free pony rides. There was a delay in getting the second inflatable. The problem might have been in the payment. The city paid the deposit, which was half and the other half wasn’t due until later. Recommendation would be to pay in full. Tom Shinnick said the Lions were very pleased with the amount of concessions they sold. They want to do it again next year and would be ready to th start at 10:00 am. Next year’s 35 Annual Earle Brown Days Festival is June 22-24, 2017. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, November 15, 4:30 p.m. ADJOURN: There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Kris Lawrence-Anderson to adjourn the meeting.
