HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017 05-01 CCM Work SessionMINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA WORK SESSION MAY 1, 2017 CITY HALL - COUNCIL CHAMBERS [ U [ill] 1 I) DI The Brooklyn Center City Council met in Work Session called to order by Mayor Tim Willson at 6:22 p.m. ROLL CALL Mayor Tim Willson and Councilmembers Marquita Butler, April Graves, Kris Lawrence- Anderson, and Dan Ryan were present. Also present were City Manager Curt Boganey, Deputy City Manager Reggie Edwards, and Rozlyn Tousignant, Deputy City Clerk. BRANDING & IDENTITY CAMPAIGN Deputy City Manager Reggie Edwards provided a PowerPoint and overview of the revisited Branding Campaign from the consultants. After the presentation, response clickers were passed out to the City Council and the voting options/how to rank selections was explained. The City Council voted and Location was ranked 29%, Housing 20%, Diversity 18%, Park Systems 18%, and Quiet and Peaceful 15%. The second set of voting option results were: At the Center 28%, Within Reach 24%, Get Closer 21%, and A great place to start 28%. After seeing the results, Mr. Boganey suggested to the Council that they provide the consultant with a direction on refocusing the logo and branding campaign. Councilmember Lawrence- Anderson added that two of the main factors on deciding to move to Brooklyn Center included the Location and the Housing market. The consensus was to have the consultants focus on Location and Housing and provide logo options with both 'At the Center' and 'A Great Place to Start, a Great Place to Stay' taglines. ADJOURNMENT Councilmember Graves moved and Councilmember Lawrence-Anderson seconded adjournment of the City Council Work Session at 7:05 p.m. Motion passed unanimously. 05/01/17 -1- STATE OF MINNESOTA) COUNTY OF HENNEPIN) ss.
