HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-089 CCRMember Ryan moved its adoption: introduced the following resolution and RESOLUTION NO. 2019-089 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE STATE OF MINNESOTA JOINT POWERS AGREEMENTS WITH THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER ON BEHALF OF ITS POLICE DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE MINNESOTA FINANCIAL CRIMES TASK FORCE ("MNFCTF") WHEREAS, it has been proposed that the City on behalf of its Police Department desires to enter into Joint Powers Agreements with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, and Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to utilize applicable state and federal laws to investigate and prosecute identity theft and related financial crimes. WHEREAS, Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force officers collaborate with and obtain information from other agencies to improve the safety of the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force can extend the range of intelligence to better prevent financial crimes; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the City Manager and Police Chief, are designated as the Authorized Representatives of the Police Department be and hereby are authorized to accept and implement the proposed Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force Joint Powers Agreement. The Authorized Representatives are also authorized to sign any subsequent amendment or agreement that may be required by the State of Minnesota to maintain the City's connection to the systems and tools offered by the State. Graves, Lawrence -Anderson, Ryan, and Elliott and the fbllowing voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
