HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-178 CCRMember Ryan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2019-178 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING TODD BERG, FIRE CHIEF, FOR AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS ASSOCIATION (APWA) MINNESOTA CHAPTER SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR WHEREAS, Todd Berg was Brooklyn Center's Streets and Parks Supervisor since August, 2010; and WHEREAS, in November 2018, the city's Fire Chief resigned his position; and WHEREAS, Todd, a paid -on-call firefighter with over 20 years of experience and a Battalion Chief, was asked to fill the role of Acting Fire Chief while keeping his Public Works position; and WHEREAS, Todd managed numerous plowing operations under the provisions of our new snow emergency ordinance while also managing emergent events and nearly 40 paid -on- call firefighters; and WHEREAS, in addition to filling two full time positions, Todd became a Certified Emergency Manager logging 52 classroom hours and 100 hours of independent study; and WHEREAS, at the end of May, 2019, Todd resigned his position as Streets and Parks Supervisor and accepted the full time Brooklyn Center Fire Chief position; and WHEREAS, Todd has demonstrated outstanding efforts in career and personal growth and development. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that we recognize Todd Berg, Fire Chief, for receiving the American Public Works Association (APWA) Minnesota Chapter Supervisor of the Year. December 9 2019 Date Mayor ATTEST:f f*" City Cleric RESOLUTION NO. 2019-178 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Graves and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Butler,Graves, Ryan, Lawrence -Anderson, and Elliott and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
