HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-023 CCRMember Graves moved its adoption: introduced the following resolution and RESOLUTION NO. 2020-23 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE STATE OF MINNESOTA JOINT POWERS AGREEMENTS WITH THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER ON BEHALF OF ITS POLICE DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE MINNESOTA HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATORS TASK FORCE (MNHITF") WHEREAS, it has been proposed that the City on behalf of its Police Department desires to enter into Joint Powers Agreements with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, and Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to utilize applicable state and federal laws to investigate and prosecute human trafficking and sexual exploitation. WHEREAS, Minnesota Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force officers collaborate with and obtain information from other agencies to improve the safety of the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force can extend the range of intelligence to better prevent sexual exploitation and violence; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the City Manager and Police Chief, are designated as the Authorized Representatives of the Police Department be and hereby are authorized to accept and implement the proposed Minnesota Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force Joint Powers Agreement. The Authorized Representatives are also authorized to sign any subsequent amendment or agreement that may be required by the State of Minnesota to maintain the City's connection to the systems and tools offered by the State.
