Northbrook Shopping Center 1) Northbrook, built in the early 5') «s is the oldest shopping center in Brooklyn Center. 2) Minnesota mills building and pilgrim Cleaners were added in 1963 and 1965 respectively. 3) The shopping center parking :lot has had a drainage problem for some time, In a letter dated August 31, 1964, from Futterman Corporation to the l,then) Village of Brooklyn Cen tej�, it was noted "...there were and are obvious difficulties in securing complete drainage because the adjacent highway is on higher ground. It is not our intent to be contentious in any way and certainly to our advantage ,0 cooperate with suggestions made by the ,Tillage. I am sure you appreciate, however, that we are hampered for the time being because of the highway work and our inability to adjust, to a highway drainage system which has not yet been installed., It is our intent to further expand the Center when it becomes possible,—,, POINTS TO HE CONSIDERED: 1) New lighting installations are proposed for the shopping center and until specifications have been. furnished, this should be subject to later approval, Planning Commission Informat-ion Sheet Page 2 `. 2) Section 35- 710 Surfacing Drainaxe and Curbing. - The applicants wish to use concrete perimeter curbing in the new or improved parking lot areas. Installation of new or improvement of older driveway and parking areas to City Standards as specified in Section_ 35--710 should be subject to the approval of the City Engineer. 3) Section .35-2140. 2 (a)Standards for Variance,, in this case, a Northern States Power company easement influences location or the proposed super -- market building.
