RESOLUTION NO.2020-055
RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NOS. 19-27,
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 2018-05, BROOKLYN BOULEVARD
CORRIDOR PROJECT PHASE 1
WHEREAS, pursuant to a written contract signed with the City of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota, C.S. McCrossan Construction Inc. of Maple Grove, Minnesota,
was instructed to complete additional work as itemized on Change Order Nos. 19-27 for
Improvement Project No. 2018-05, Brooklyn Boulevard Corridor Project Phase 1, and
WHEREAS, Change Order 19 in the amount of $1,222.53 is for relocating a
lighting handhole which was in conflict with the footing for the ornamental fence in the
northwest quadrant of 49th Avenue and Brooklyn Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Change Order 20 in the amount of $3,906.82 is for an additional
rigid steel conduit and wiring to complete the traffic signal system at Brooklyn Boulevard and
Bass Lake Road; and
WHEREAS, .Change Order 21 in the amount of $2,424.75 is for repairing 2 water
services near Brooklyn Boulevard and Bass Lake Road and for modifying Storm Structure #100
in order to avoid a conflict with an Xcel Energy duct banks and
WHEREAS, .Change Order 22 in the amount of $646.95 is for re -grading the
pond slope and re-laying the surrounding sod adjacent to a sanitary manhole casting which was
lowered at the south infiltration basin south at Brooklyn Boulevard and 55th Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Change Order 23 in the amount of-$8,887.39 (deduct) is for
eliminating one metal bench at the southbound Brooklyn Boulevard bus stop at SSth Avenue,
and the elimination of the Type A Bollards in the Brooklyn Boulevard median north of Bass
Lake Road. The bench and bollards had been purchased specifically for this project and the
elimination of the work resulted in excess materials that will be purchased from the contractor;
and
WHEREAS, Change Order 24 in the amount of $9,625.62 is for exposing an Xcel
Energy duct bank which was in conflict with the curb and gutter near Brooklyn Boulevard and
59th Avenue, re -sequenced grading and concrete work, installing hand formed concrete curb and
gutter, and providing cold weather protection for the concrete; and
WHEREAS, Change Order 25 in the amount of $3,165.47 is for providing
variable depth milling at pavement tie-ins and crossover locations to allow for smooth pavement
transitions between existing and new pavements; and
WHEREAS, Change Order 26 in the amount of $549.35 is for removing and
replacing curb and gutter in the center median north of Highway 100 which was installed at the
wrong elevation due to a survey error; and
WHEREAS, Change Order 27 in the amount of $6,000.00 is for additional traffic
control during the two Bass Lake Road closures; and
WHEREAS, said additional work was not included in the original contract, but
was deemed necessary to properly complete the improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that Change Order No. 19 through 27 in the amount of $18,654.10
for Improvement No. 2018-05 is hereby approved. The revised contract amount is as follows:

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Butler
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Butler, Elliott, Graves, Lawrence -Anderson, and Ryan
and the following voted against the same: None
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
