HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-005 CCRMember Elliott introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2021-05 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ADOPTION OF A FAIR HOUSING POLICY WHEREAS, the Federal Fair Housing Act (FHA) prohibits discrimination in housing because of a person's race/color, sex, national origin, religion, familial status, or disability; and WHEREAS, the City is obligated to comply with the FHA and not discriminate in housing on the basis of someone's protected class and to not adopt programs and policies that cause a disparate impact on a protected class; and WHEREAS, the City is committed to fair housing and wants to ensure it is effectively serving its citizens that have fair housing concerns; and WHEREAS, the City believes that adoption of a local policy will assist the City in serving its citizens regarding fair housing and achieving its housing goals. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that: 1. The Fair Housing Policy is hereby approved and adopted. 2. City staff is authorized to carry out the policy effective immediately. January 11, 2021 Date ATTEST: City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Graves and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof. Butler, Elliott, Graves, Lawrence -Anderson, Ryan and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
